More Americans optimistic about future of Social Security: Gallup
The Hill ^ | 12/08/2023 | LAUREN IRWIN

Americans are more optimistic about the future of Social Security than they have been in recent years, a new survey from Gallup found.

Among non-retirees, 50 percent expect Social Security to pay them a benefit when they retire, compared to 47 percent who do not think the system will help them.

The response from non-retirees is up from readings taken between 2005 and 2015, when majorities of non-retirees polled said they did not think that they would receive benefits from the system, Gallup found.

Current retirees believe they will continue to receive full benefits under Social Security.

The greatest danger to SS has always been who’s responsible for it. As with most federal programs, it sounded good, but it was just another money grab by the central government. If it would have been implemented initially like private pension funds, and Congress been incapable of touching it in any way, it would certainly be in better shape than it is today. If one looks at its origin, looks at all the modifications over time, and look at it now it’s easy to see who it’s meant to benefit the most, and it isn’t American workers.

...For retirement planning you want to focus on inflation protection as best you can...

For the past 50 years the first principle of my financial planning has been "Never Bet Against Inflation."

This has withstood the test of time and served me well in my personal life.

Sarcasm indeed. I wager that the debt passing $34 trillion will hardly a fuss in the state-enthralled media. The nation is "officially" not at war anywhere, such that this "war footing" spending is nuts. Someone's raking in the profits, and it is NOT the American people, more than half earning less than $50K a year. Congress has lost its way, fiscally and ethically.

Not only is it possible its fairly eminent. Things are going to happen in this country in the coming months that are going to be momentous. Trump and his inner circle are trying to throw you the clues. You kind of have to read between the lines.

Kash Patel who is likely the next head of the CIA was just on Steve Bannon pretty much laying some stuff out. It wasn’t about social security but it should make you realize that these guys are going to do some radical stuff. Stuff that can’t be done working within the system.

Nesara/Gesara (which will include SS) isn’t going to be voted on in the Congress. Its just going to be implemented.

If you think everything is just going to remain the same and we are going to continue to try to operate within this totally corrupt system that’s not possible. Our system is going to be completely flushed out. There’s no other option. Things will be much better afterwards including our social security.

Yeah, watch out for those spry 65+ year olds. They float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

“Yeah, watch out for those spry 65+ year olds. They float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.”

Apparently you’re unable to consider more than one factor. I’m 65+ and my trigger finger works pretty well. Another consideration is adult children who suddenly have impoverished parents moving in with them.

Just a couple things to consider, if you’re able.

Is this what you are talking about?

My retirement planning also included a big ZERO for SS. I boarded retirement on the SS Costa Rica six years and having $2,500/month coming in from my prior social security deductions is handy when I started a couple years ago.

Its not that I believe its real its that its real. I urge you to do some research of your own so you won’t have to scramble to understand everything when the changeover comes.

Although I imagine it will be pretty seamless so as not to freak everyone out. More than likely Trump will just announce that we’re changing over to a gold backed system and all your old dollars will automatically be switched to the new US Treasury note. Any cash you have at home you can just take in and redeem it for notes. I don’t think they want to scare the public. Its a good thing. Its not anything to fear.

I don't think I'd call myself optimistic, but if waiting until I turn 70 years old to maximize my benefit means that I'm "optimistic," then so be it.

If it's a judgment between drawing a known reduced amount now, waiting for the maximum benefit later, taking a Congressionally-reduced amount in the future, or having the whole thing collapse and disappear before I draw anything, I'll take my chances that any future benefit will be more than taking it now.

Take it now - you can still work part-time and make more than what you’ll get waiting down the road....if you live that long.

I am not in “fear” or any emotion mode—just trying to fact find here.

How much gold do you think .gov has—and where do you think it is?

What evidence do you have for that?

Take it nice and slow—no emotion here.

Its better if you start researching for yourself. That way you hear it from multiple people other than me.

We are going to move to a new monetary system very soon. The entire world is. BRICS is just the first phase. There is no conspiracy. The central banking system is on its last gasp and will be replaced.

Do you not believe Donald Trump when he says we are going to a gold backed system?

“There’s a reason President Trump insists Social Security will be just fine. Under the new monetary system there will be plenty of funds for social security. I have heard individual benefits will be increased to $2500-$5,000 per month.”

Ok...sorry, but... I have to say it. I can no longer restrain myself... and God knows, I’ve tried.

Delusional doesn’t even begin to cover the condition that you are displaying here.

Again...

sorry.

Either that or uninformed doesn’t begin to describe the condition you are in.

People who are afraid of change don’t appreciate being told about it.

Yeah, well... I have a pretty good idea of where and who you’re getting your “”info”” from, and trust me....

you’re being played.

“So you believe Donald Trump is playing us? Interesting.”

So you’re saying that Trump is saying all of this stuff you’re saying here? Really? Got a link to that?

Frankly, I don’t think Trump would have said that about Social Security recipients getting $2500-5000 a month under the “new monetary system”. I believe he’s smart enough to know that can’t happen....ever. Not in our current reality.

As far as going back to the gold standard, America has been bankrupted by the Marxist left already. Their Cloward-Pivening of the USA is almost complete. So where is all the gold going to come from?

Seriously, you really still think Trump and the military are in control behind the scene? I just don’t see how anyone could think that.... considering how much crap he has been put through and is still being put through. It defies logic to believe what you believe.

I do think we’re going to be forced into a new system, though. The cash-less, digital, Chi-Com-type system where Government (Marxist Democrats) track every move you make financially.

Assumptions. Why would an elderly couple have a $500 used car payment? That’s almost one third the rent.

This is garbage.
