Haley leapfrogs DeSantis to take No. 2 spot but remains miles behind front-runner Trump

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley passed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for second place in the GOP primary, according to a Wall Street Journal poll conducted days before Wednesday's GOP primary debate in which the former United Nations ambassador was the subject of repeated attacks.

Every Republican White House hopeful is still far behind former President Donald Trump, who holds 59% of the vote, according to the poll released Thursday. Haley narrowly surpassed DeSantis, who has been stuck in neutral for months, polling at 15% compared to the Florida governor’s 14%.

You can get used to calling him playground names and lie about his height until the cows come home, but DeSantis doesn’t care because he isn’t a preening narcissist and he will never ever give up.

Your best friend right now in ignoring DeSantis and promoting Trump is the very leftist corporate media who pummeled you with the fake Russian hoax narrative for 3 years, and then framed Trump for an innocent phone call.

They fear DeSantis and his administrative skills and ability to get results, and they know from experience how easy it will be to roll Trump.

The donor-class darling for 2024 was one of Klaus Schwab’s ‘Young Global Leaders’ of 2011.

I do not question all of that-—

BUT—SHE DID NOT HAVE TO BE NATURAL BORN CITIZEN TO DO ALL OF THAT.

TO BE USA PRESIDENT-—She needs to be NBC.

We already know desanctus doesn’t care very much about many things....

desantimonious has already shown multiple examples where he has lied about things, broken rules and regulations, committed crimes and shown he’s corrupt, and he doesn’t care, because he keeps doing it.

And much like desantis, there are desantis supporters that show they lie and gaslight people here and don’t care they are doing so, too...

It’s just to what extent they share desantis’ other traits of rule breaking and criminal corruption, that we don’t know about.

DeSantis peaked long ago, and then we got to know him a bit. So it’s no surprise that the other-than-Trump field is now wide open.

So be it. Take care and have a evening.

“””””””””

The Supreme Court has stated that, properly understood, the definition of “natural-born” covers anybody who was a US citizen at birth, meaning they did not have to go through naturalization at a later time.Apr 12, 2021

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

The Qualifications Clause set forth in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 requires the President to be a natural-born citizen, at least thirty-five years of age, and a resident of the United States for at least fourteen years.1
Like the age requirements for membership in the House of Representatives2 and the Senate,3 the age requirement for the presidency set forth at Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 ensures that persons holding the office of President will have the necessary maturity for the position as well as sufficient time in a public role for the electorate to be able to assess the merits of a presidential candidate.4 In his Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States, Justice Joseph Story stated: Considering the nature of the duties, the extent of the information, and the solid wisdom and experience required in the executive department, no one can reasonably doubt the propriety of some qualification of age.5
The Framers appear to have adopted the requirement that citizens be natural born citizens to ensure that the President’s loyalties would lie strictly with the United States. By barring naturalized citizens from the presidency, the requirement of being a natural born citizen, as Justice Story explained, protects the United States from ambitious foreigners, who might otherwise be intriguing for the office; and interposes a barrier against those corrupt interferences of foreign governments in executive elections, which have inflicted the most serious evils upon the elected monarchies of Europe.6 Article II, however, provided an exception for foreign-born persons who had immigrated to the colonies prior to the adoption of the Constitution.7 Justice Story explained that this was done out of respect to those distinguished revolutionary patriots, who were born in a foreign land, and yet had entitled themselves to high honors in their adopted country.8
While the Constitution does not define natural born Citizen, commentators have opined that the Framers would have understood the term to mean someone who was a U.S. citizen at birth with no need to go through a naturalization proceeding at some later time.9 British statutes from 1709 and 1731 expressly described children of British subjects who were born outside of Great Britain as natural born citizens and provided that they enjoyed the same rights to inheritance as children born in Great Britain.10 In addition, in the Naturalization Act of 1790, the First Congress provided that children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond the sea, . . . shall be considered as natural born citizens . . . .11 Consequently, under the principle that British common law and enactments of the First Congress are two particularly useful sources in understanding constitutional terms,12 it would appear likely that the Framers would have understood natural born citizen to encompass the children of United States citizens born overseas.13 Such an interpretation is further supported by the presidential candidacies of Senator John McCain of Arizona, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone; Governor George Romney of Michigan, who was born in Mexico, and Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, who was born in Arizona before it became a state.14
The Framers appear to have adopted the fourteen-year residency requirement to ensure that the people may have a full opportunity to know [the candidate’s] character and merits, and that he may have mingled in the duties, and felt the interests, and understood the principles, and nourished the attachments, belonging to every citizen in a republican government.15 Justice Story further explained that the fourteen-year residence requirement is not an absolute inhabitancy within the United States during the whole period; but such an inhabitancy as includes a permanent domicil in the United States.16

It cannot be “our democracy” without massive fraud.

Nikki has learned that from the Democrats.

That Trump will win the primary is almost a dead certainty at this point. If he’s still breathing, he will win. Whether he can win the general election and hire better people than during his first term is another matter.

I’m very impressed how you mimic Trump and his schoolyard name calling like a caged parrot. “Bwawk bwawk sanctimonious, bwawk bwawk DeSanctus”. Learn to apply that same focus for proper sentence structure and how to capitalize words. There are English night classes in every town that are very affordable.

I am a very proud Ronaldus DeSantis supporter. You are being gaslit with the reality that Trump is all smoke and mirrors, while having to run against the greatest governor in America who had one of the highest conservative ratings in congress.

This is a damning commentary on those who identify as republicans. Nikki Haley Is a weak azz example of a wish-a-wash example of a politician. A conservative she is not. I would say just sucks but I can’t even say that in a honest way.

Let me guess. You do however trust the guy who claims to a judge that he weighs 215, but wears a 50 inch belt, and told you that he would drain the swamp, lock up Hillary, and handed the country over to Fauci.

I did not watch the debate but have seen a few clips.

I almost feel sorry for Haley as her positions are almost defensible in the attacks made on her by Vivek and DeSantis. She seems like a nice woman who would give our freedoms away without even realizing it. It kind of reminds me of Bush and the Patriot Act (which I supported at the time).

DeSantis said parents should not have the right to sexually mutilate their children. He’s right. If he is being sanctimonious, that’s fine with me.

Haley and Christie never, ever, ever had to take the attacks from the press that were levelled on DeSantis. Tells you something doesn’t it? Like Trump he deserves a profile in modern political courage. Vivek says great things, but he has nothing to lose. So while I like and appreciate his words, he has not demonstrated the courage and resolve of Trump or DeSantis.

Christie’s chosen position is that he will save the nation from a Trump dictatorship. That is the basis for his campaign. He’s the only honest, brave one on the podium who will save America from Trump. Perhaps he should save himself by losing a few (hundred) pounds first. He’s clearly a member of the “I can’t manage my life; let me tell you how to manage yours” crowd.
