We Don't Have Enough Men': Ukrainian Soldier Reveals 'Green' Frontline Marines Defending River 'Can't Even Swim'

As the Russia-Ukraine war nears its second year, each country's military is facing new struggles.

According to one Ukrainian soldier, there simply aren't enough trained troops on the frontlines right now, Knewz.com has learned.

An unidentified Ukraine soldier told the BBC that some troops helping defend Ukrainian advances on the Dnipro river are incredibly inexperienced.

"Several brigades were supposed to be posted here, not individual companies — we just don't have enough men," the anonymous soldier said after spending weeks on the Russian-occupied side of the river. "There are a lot of young guys among us. We need people, but trained people, not the green ones we have there now."

He explained that some soldiers spent "just three weeks in training" and some have "only managed to shoot a few times."

"It's a total nightmare. A year ago, I wouldn't have said that, but now, sorry, I'm fed up," he stated.

"Everyone who wanted to volunteer for war came a long time ago - it's too hard now to tempt people with money. Now we're getting those who didn't manage to escape the draft. You'll laugh at this, but some of our marines can't even swim."

The ineptness of some Ukrainian troops comes at a time when further funding from the United States is in jeopardy.

Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young warned in a letter to Congressional leaders on Monday, December 4 that the White House will run out of money to provide weapons for Ukraine if those on Capitol Hill don't act by the end of the year.

“I want to be clear: without congressional action, by the end of the year we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from U.S. military stocks. There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money — and nearly out of time,” Young wrote, according to The Hill.

“We are out of money to support Ukraine in this fight. This isn’t a next year problem,” she added. “The time to help a democratic Ukraine fight against Russian aggression is right now. It is time for Congress to act.”

The unidentified soldier also told BBC News that some troops are running out of basic supplies while in the battlefield.

"Supplies were the weakest link. The Russians monitored our supply lines, so it became more difficult - there was a real lack of drinking water, despite our deliveries by boat and drone," he said.

"We paid for a lot of our own kit - buying generators, power banks and warm clothes ourselves. Now the frosts are coming, things will only get worse — the real situation is being hushed up, so no one will change anything."

"No one knows the goals. Many believe that the command simply abandoned us. The guys believe that our presence had more political than military significance. But we just did our job and didn't get into strategy."

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that the world should be prepared for "bad news" in Ukraine.

“Wars develop in phases. We have to support Ukraine in both good and bad times. We should also be prepared for bad news,” Stoltenberg told German broadcaster ARD on December 2, Politico reported.

“The more we support the Ukraine, the faster the war will end,” he said.

As for Russia, president Vladimir Putin signed a decree to bolster the ranks of Russian troops by 15%.

Knewz reported on December 2 that a statement was posted on the Kremlin website: “The increase in the full-time strength of the army is due to growing threats to our country linked with the special military operation and the continuing expansion of NATO.”

The site noted that the percentage would translate to 170,000 additional servicemen and that the Kremlin would not use conscription or mobilization drives to achieve this goal.

“The increase in the number of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is being implemented in stages, based on citizens who express a desire to undergo military service under a contract,” said the statement.

The news came a week after wives and other relatives of Russian soldiers aired their grievances against Putin's government on social media.

It claimed the Kremlin has not fulfilled promises and betrayed citizens by leaving soldiers in action beyond a “partial mobilization.”

How the war ends in 2024: A complete collapse of the current Ukrainian regime AND army.

They’ll look strong until that moment of sudden collapse.

If Russia had shown more competence it would have already occurred.

Maybe if they are so sure of their civil war, they conscript everyone and wage total war. Or, maybe the conscripted citizens are ready to say enough and send Zelenskyy packing.

True. But Russia's main aim of the SMO was to bring UKR to the negotiating table. That worked until NATO intervened and scuttled the impending ceasefire agreement.

NATO hoped to degrade Russia more at the expense of many thousands of UKR lives and many billions of USD.

In the end, what will soon be achieved could have been achieved without bloodshed. But NATO was thirsty for blood.

Maybe FR’s Rev. Mom and other propagandists can organize their friends and go over to join the front lines as fresh cannon fodder.

Sure, Russia could have crushed them hard.

Maybe Putin actually has a heart and wanted to limit damage and death.

What the hell happened? The Ukranians won every battle, killing Russians by an 8 to 1 ratio, until they ran out of Ukranian soldiers? They must have just plum wore themselves out killing Ruzzians.

Have they tried a bake sale?

I heard that a guy named Dan, now in his mid-50's, has experience from organizing a gigantic bake sale 30 years ago in Colorado.
