The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
I guess the next installment will have Col. Halvorsen’s story. Looking forward to it.
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Hi Kathy and thanks for tonight’s Canteen and the wonderful Berlin Airlift story!
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!
Howdy, Kathy.
Were you able to get all the mess last week straightened out so you can concentrate on the week ahead?
Evening, Kathy!
Part 3: Operation Little Vittles...
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...you and Tippy ready for the new week?
Oh yes. It’s been rainy and miserable. I hope it clears up by tomorrow so we can have a nice walk.
Good evening, Pro...a wonderful story that should not be forgotten.
Bible in a Year:
Blessed are those who . . . walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
At his wife’s memorial service, Chuck shared that he was still traveling “through the valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23:4 nkjv). His wife’s life in heaven had already begun. But the “shadow of death” was still with him and with others who’d greatly loved Elaine.
As we travel through the valley of shadows, where can we find our source of light? The apostle John declares that “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). And in John 8:12, Jesus proclaimed: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
As believers in Jesus, we “walk in the light of [His] presence” (Psalm 89:15). Our God has promised to be with us and to be our source of light even when we travel through the darkest of shadows. .
Reflect & Pray
What valley have you been walking through? Which of God’s promises provide light for your journey?
Loving God, thank You for Your promise to never leave me. I trust You to be my strength, my provision, and my joy throughout my life.

Good evening, radu...how much rain did you finally get? Enough to help with the drought around you? How about up the mountain?
Been working on the stuff that didn’t get done because OF the mess. Hopefully I will have correcting timesheets Monday morning to finish cleaning up the mess. We will see.
Hey there, Kathy.
Final rain tally was .9 of an inch yesterday. Not a drought-buster but every little bit helps. We MIGHT get a couple of showers tomorrow but we’ll see how that goes.
I don’t know how much rain they got on the mountain where the museum is but the mountains farther north looked like they got a good dose, looking at the radar. They really needed it because there were some fires blazing.
I’m glad there’s no snow showing on the radar anywhere close to you. You need to get that path to the mailbox cleared before more snow covers the ice.
Howdy, luvie.
How did your day go? Weather decent, with no wind?
I wish you luck tomorrow getting that mess dealt with once and for all! No telling what will be thrown at you this week.
