Notably NOT on the Gettysburg battlefield— he not taking part in ANY part of the Union part. Just saying. He is a tangled and confused political backwash of the War, with a LOT to answer for- particularly with the crimes of the Reconstruction which profited greatly his branch of the big R republican fed gov which would have continued if not for the non-conviction/impeachment (by 1 vote) of Lincoln’s VP Andrew Johnson. Seriously- the Radical Republicans were and are remembered in history as thieves, quite distinguished from the post war binding up of wounds and support of the coming expansion of the US world power (Spanish American War etc, and all wars thereafter supported by the descendants of both sides of the Civil, in Unity and Patriotism). Ironic now to have a statue to such a gross political animal.
AntiFA- the Leftist Communists? Why, of course, along with BLM. The irony of all this being that Stevens would have marched, just like Romney did..with the BLM front group for the DNC (ActBlue fundraiser front group, BLM) and for the confirmed drug overdosed/suicide George Floyd).

This is fascinating to elucidate in history (Hitler hated these further Left socialists who were fully to the Left along with the Communists. Just as they are today with the Communist democrats).
Just before Lincoln was killed (and there are many subtexts to who actually arranged the killing because Lincoln stood in the way- hero that he was- of the Radical Republican plan to completely take over the Southern US States)- Lincoln is quoted as saying to Stevens in 1865-
“Stevens, this is a pretty big hog we are trying to catch and to hold when we catch him. We must take care that he does not slip away from us.” Speaking of the defeated CSA- who needed to be coaxed back into the Union- instead of what the Radical Republicans planned to do by force. Lincoln knew about the Klan, as did Stevens.. since early on they both belonged to the Know Nothing party alongside the newly former Republican, and aided by the Speaker Galusha Grow who was elected as a Democrat and converted to Radical Republicans.
The additional irony of this memorial is that Thaddeus Stevens led the National Banking Act (greenbacks) that led to the Federal Reserve Bank (of 1913) which was re-charted by obamaumao the first for another 100 years— signed in December 2013! The Federal Reserve and Radical Republicanism has all morphed into Democrat chicanery and the destruction of the United States Constitutional Republic. Unintended consequences?-maybe not. Time has told.
Stevens is the father of the homosexual marriage amendment that victorious forces forced onto the U.S. Constitution.

Well put. Contemporary accounts I've read say that he was a nasty, vindictive man, who also put personal profit high in his priorities. Not a statesman worthy of so much as a plaster bust in a crate in warehouse somewhere.
