Mystery wave of pneumonia hits AMERICA: Ohio county records 142 child cases of 'white lung syndrome' which it says 'meets the definition of an outbreak'

An 'extremely high' number of children are being diagnosed with pneumonia in Ohio — which is now the first US state to report an outbreak like the one in China.

Health officials in Warren County, 30 miles north of Cincinnati, said there have been 142 pediatric cases of the condition — dubbed 'white lung syndrome' — since August.

'Not only is this above the county average, it also meets the Ohio Department of Health definition of an outbreak,' the county's health department said Wednesday.

The spread of cases has raised fears that an American outbreak of the infection that has overwhelmed hospitals China could hit this winter. Several European countries are battling similar crises.

But a source at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that, nationally, 'nothing is out of the ordinary'.

An 'ongoing investigation' is underway in Ohio into what is triggering the wave of illness, but officials do not think it is a new respiratory disease — and instead blame a mixture of several common infections all hitting at once.

Patients so far have tested positive for mycoplasma pneumoniae, a bacterial lung infection for which some antibiotics are useless, strep, and adenovirus, a normally benign respiratory infections.

There are several theories, one of which is that children's immunity has been weakened by lockdowns, mask-wearing and school closures during the pandemic — leaving them more vulnerable to seasonal illnesses.

Bacterial respiratory infections usually flare up every few years, normally as people are recovering from a wave of flu or other viral illnesses.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections tend to peak every three to seven years, the CDC says, with the illness having not peaked since the Covid pandemic hit in 2020.

I’m not sure all those illegals are headed straight for Ohio. Now considering how many illegals were shipped to New York, by southern governors, an outbreak there would make a lot more sense as related to illegals. Meanwhile, take extra Vitamin D as winter progresses and you don’t get much sun exposure. Also keep your weight below 25 BMI as it seems your Vitamin D likes to store itself in your fat, rather than circulate in the blood where it can help the immune system.

I never had the mRNA vaccines, only 2 J&J shots. also flu shots 3 or 4 years in a row, and renewed shingles shot 2 years ago. My partner has had 4 mRNA shots altogether. Last Janurary he brought a respiratory infection home from babysitting his 3 year old sick grandson. We were both sick for 3 1/2 months with heavy coughing and much mucus. Late Sept. he again brought home his grandson’s illness and we were sick more than a month, the same bad cough. Grandson recovered quickly both times. Being so sick without mRNA, I check on J&J and found that like mRNA vaccines J&J targets the spike protein.

A small study that looked at changes in the IgG immune system only looked at changes after multiple vaccines from mRNA shots. It did not have J&J participants. Now I wonder if a much larger testing should be done of all the Covid vaccines, as well as other vaccines like flu that are taken frequently. I definitely did not have mRNA unless KP sneaked one in with my flu shot last Dec. Partner had another Covid shot last month against my advice. Today he got an RSV shot. I have wondered if our almost 5 months of illness this year was RSV, but KP would not test me for RSV immunity, only offered a Covid test. I had Covid tests in Sept. and last week and was clear both times.

I had the earlier pneumonia vax ten years ago, and a newer broader one just before Covid’s arrival. I suspect when I was ill this year it may have been RSV not bacterial. It became a bad bronchitis. What helped was medication to make my lungs less triggered into coughing, and a good expectorant. I only had one episode of fever, no nausea, bad bowel, severe sore throat, just this unending cough. After my blood tested insufficient for Vitamin D, I upped my intake, but not in time to catch that long illness. Also increased zinc and took Quercetin. Gave it to my partner too. Is that why we were not as sick for not as long this fall? I am 85 and he is 79.
