Fifty-four House lawmakers, Democrat and Republican, conservative and progressive, called on House Speaker Mike Johnson Wednesday not to extend a controversial deep state surveillance law in a defense bill.
Reps. Warren Davidson (R-OH) and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), two skeptics of government surveillance, spearheaded the letter, which comes weeks before the year-end deadline of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
Section 702 is a law that allows intelligence agencies to collect communications of targeted foreigners. It also may lead to targeted surveillance of Americans’ private communications, which privacy advocates consider a run around the Fourth Amendment’s requirement for a warrant to search Americans’ communications. The law will expire at the end of 2023.

Yes - please don’t slip in language to authorize what the government is already doing without authorization... LOL
Only 54.
The rest either have no idea, don’t care or are 100% in support of the program
Why would he need urging?
It’s limited to foreigners only. Extend it.
Because the Dems got caught using it against Americans.
Ask George Papadopolus if it was used against him. Ask Donald Trump. Ask anyone associated with the Hillary spawned Russia, Russia, Russia scam that resulted in millions of dollars in taxpayer money used to investigate, persecute and impeach Trump. I daresay that your phonecalls and even this post subsequently will be stored on massive computers in Utah. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! 702 gives the FBI, NSA etc. the legal authority to listen in on all calls and then prosecute on those with foreign contacts. And illegally act on all others. This is how the Intelligence Agencies control our representatives in Congress, by blackmailing them. Sorry, didn’t mean to preach.
We all know it was used wrongly...but that was Comey and his “gang”.
So having established precedent of abusing the law without consequence what is now going to prevent someone else from doing it again? The power is too enticing to be used for political/power advantage to be ignored.
No democrat is trustworthy. I don’t care what they think it makes me suspicious
