Major US news outlets devoted significantly less time and space to covering Donald Trump’s description of his enemies as “vermin” this month than they did in a similar period in 2016 to Hillary Clinton’s reference to Trump’s supporters as “deplorables”, a new study has found.
Findings by the progressive watchdog Media Matters included 18 times more coverage of Clinton’s remark than Trump’s by the “Big Three” broadcast networks (NBC, ABC and CBS) in the first week after the remark was made; and print reports among the top five circulating newspapers (Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today) in which mention of Clinton’s remark outnumbered Trump’s 29-1 in the same period.

The difference is Hillary was talking about voters, where as Trump was talking about leftwing activists.
The rats in the fake news were offended to be called out by Trump
Trump wasn’t even talking about Democrats. Clinton referred to about half of all Republicans as “deplorables”, however.

Elon Musk’s social media platform X, issued a new warning Wednesday about the left-wing ratings company NewsGuard. In a post on X he said his was the latest organization to be targeted by NewsGuard, which has systematically targeted conservative media.
“NewsGuard is about to publish a ‘report’ on misinformation on X. As a for-profit company, they will only share the data that underpins their purported research if you pay,” X explained. X then highlighted NewsGuard’s strategy in going after the platform — the same strategy it has employed on dozens of other companies. NewsGuard “uses these reports to pressure companies to buy their ‘fact-checking’ services. It’s a profit over any principle model,” X said.
Clinton made her comment less than two months before the election.
Nobody is paying attention to anything any candidate is saying right now.
Five Reasons Congress Should Strip Funding from Leftist NewsGuard

Leftist internet traffic cop NewsGuard is the farthest thing from being the unbiased media referee it purports to be. It is a government-funded operation designed to attack right-leaning media by going after their advertiser funding.......and to silence conservatives.
There are at least five core reasons why Congress should strip funding from NewsGuard in the latest National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) since it received a $750,000 taxpayer-funded grant from the Department of Defense. The state funding of a leftist, so-called journalism gatekeeper that deceptively bills itself as “apolitical” is case in point. Such efforts by the government to censor media it does not approve of through the funding of a private organization is on its face unconstitutional. Moreover, NewsGuard’s inherent bias against right-leaning media and rubber-stamping of left-wing publications, its financing by special interests that compromise its objectivity, its apparent support of a communist Chinese government propaganda arm and its open celebration of its collusion with government make it little more than an Orwellian Ministry of Truth of the first magnitude.
Couple all that with the MRC’s analysis across two studies on NewsGuard’s media ratings and “Nutrition Labels” showing how the so-called media ratings firm is nothing more than a leftist political tool intended to silence the right and the problem becomes all too clear. It’s time for America’s legislators to finally take action.

Communists, Marxists, fascists and radical left thugs. Which one of these “vermin” do those who are offended claim to be? Clinton, however, was referring to about half of all Republicans as a “basket of deplorables”.
You cannot really expect the Grauniad* to be able to discern such a "minor" difference. /s
*The Guardian called thus, due to its frequent misspellings.
Exactly. They heard something familiar to their ears and made sure to get the word out because like most things they report, they figured it would galvanize supporters behind the RATS, and especially Her Heinous.

Free Speech Groups Call on Congress To Block “NewsGuard” Funding
Via a proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
“That which govt is constitutionally prohibited from doing, cannot be contracted out to others.”
(Section 1532 of the NDAA)
As many as 36 groups advocating free speech, “the Free Speech Alliance,” have turned to US Congress with a request to stop any further funding of NewsGuard.
NewsGuard is an outfit that describes itself as countering “misinformation on behalf of news consumers, brands and democracies.”
That “mission” also includes (trust) rating system for news sites – right in people’s browsers.
But members of the Free Speech Alliance, and those supporting it are not buying this pitch, summing up and denouncing NewsGuard instead as an ideologically-motivated “internet traffic cop.”
And they are warning that taxpayer money should never have been spent on financing it, and its ilk – and even less so, that the US authorities should continue to spend taxpayer money on what is described as politically motivated censorship of speech.
And these free speech groups want Congress to make sure the Biden White House is prevented from bankrolling such an organization – a particularly sensitive issue given the stage of the election cycle in the country – via the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
In a letter this week, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Mike Johnson are urged to make sure Congressman Richard McCormick’s free speech amendment to the NDAA sticks.
We obtained a copy of the letter for you here (linked at web site).
It seeks to ensure that the Department of Defense (DoD) is prevented from handing out contracts to NewsGuard and others, such as another highly controversial group, the Global Disinformation Index (GDI).
The complaint against them is that they show obvious and damaging ideological and political bias against the media in the right-oriented space.
The letter comes in the context of the news that NewsGuard and GDI thus far received money from the DoD, and the Department of State, respectively (NewsGuard to the tune of $750,000 from the DoD).
“As shown by two MRC (Media Research Center, one of the letter’s signatories) Free Speech America studies, NewsGuard’s ratings are heavily skewed in favor of leftist media and consistently target right-leaning outlets with scathingly low ratings,” it is stated by NewBusters.
As for GDI, its track record includes blacklisting the New York Post, The Daily Wire, Real Clear Politics and The Federalist.
The key point of the letter is that in case a (private, or NGO) organization is suspected of having political bias – well, that’s unconstitutional for a US government to support financially.
And a very pertinent point is made in the letter, regarding the “outsourcing of censorship.” Namely:
“That which government is constitutionally prohibited from doing, it cannot contract with others to do. Please ensure that Section 1532 is preserved in the final version of the NDAA.”
The lying a-holes at the Guardian lie again.
The media are afraid of how many Americans agree with Trump.
I believe Trump was referring the huge leftist mobs on the streets of urban areas of the country - not political opponents. The media is twisting the word for propaganda.
The Dems figured most other Dems would not know what the word “vermin’ means.
What Trump said is not controversial, but self-evidently true. The media does not want to publicize Trump telling the inconvenient truth bout the current leftists.
This is the part of the cycle with the news media downplays negative items about Trump, to help him win the nomination. They will stop ignoring it once he has the nomination locked up.
Of course.
