Power grid operator warns that shut down of coal plant may disrupt millions
Washington Examiner ^ | 23 November 2023 | Christopher Hutton

The operator of a power grid in the mid-Atlantic is warning that the planned shutdown of a coal-fired power plant could disrupt and short-change electrical supply before people can replace it.

PJM Interconnection, the company that manages wholesale electricity in parts or the entirety of 13 states and provides electricity for more than 65 million Americans, said that they expect the shutdown of the Brandon Shores coal power plant outside of Baltimore to disrupt the power there and leave it wanting. The plant's owner, Talen Energy, made a deal with the environmentalist group Sierra Club to deactivate it by 2025 in order to diminish carbon dioxide outputs. That deal may not be good for residents, however.

Maryland . . that was the data.

Are there so many that you can lose a few, or is there enough bleed over from NY, or what ?

Except I’m not going to freeze in the winter.

I’ll burn firewood.

So their goal of reducing CO2 is not going to be met.

Talent goes bankrupt but is an “operationally excellent?”

In bed with Yahoo and Google. This is all about gathering data, control and money. And someone is getting some kickbacks.

“Why would an private electric company make any deal with an Eco-Terrorist group like the Siera Club?”

An even better question. Why would the Ohio Department of Natural Resources make any deal with the Nature Conservancy? The RINOs are down with the globalist 30x30 plan, that’s why. Southern Ohio is being taken over by this group.

Look at the Nature Conservancy map...now pan over to Maui!

There’s a whole state of wood burning heated homes here in NH.

By the time they get to as far out as we live, they’ll have had to go past a lot more than they could handle.

I hpe they shut i down right away.

It will shock many East Coast liberals to learn the facts of life.

It would no doubt cause millions to vote for Trump

Conservatives should keep quiet and let the libs have their wish (and their medicine).

I passed a de- commissioned coal-fired power plant over the summer in Colorado that was being entirely dismantled.

I asked my (lefty) relatives what was going to replace the power? They said “green energy” - they live in a part of the state that is very very cold - can’t wait to hear them complain about rolling blackouts during the deep freeze of winter b/c there isn’t enough power.

Agreed. There needs to be some real pain before people wake up.

Electric everything and clean power are inevitable, supposing technological civilization continues. But just letting it happen eventually is too much like freedom.

The Democrats are pushing electric everything in ways that hurt everybody and crush freedom, while deliberately sabotaging our ability to make electricity.

It is deliberate warfare against the people.

Google maps does give me the distance between Brandon Shores and Brandon Falls.

"Brandon Falls" - is that named after our president?

Prepper Ping - Shutdown of The Brandon (coal fired) power plant by Talen Energy, will affect electric reliability in the mid-Atlantic area, 13 States affected (Maryland)
An agreement already exists with the environmentalist group Sierra Club to deactivate it by 2025 in order to diminish carbon dioxide outputs.

SheepWhisperer :" As my grandma used to say; “don’t cut off your nose to spite your face”
This is the intentional destruction of the nation."

" The operator of a power grid in the mid-Atlantic is warning that the planned shutdown of a coal-fired power plant

( My Opinion) : welcome to the war of eliminating any power source that is based on petroleum products or miss-identified as "Fossil fuel",
especially when electricity from renewable energy alone is risky, at best.
The reliability of electric from heavily subsidized natural sources has been proven to be unreliable and sporadic, at best.
Remember the "10 days of Frozen in Texas", and the numerous needless deaths in Buffalo in a wind driven snow storm and over 5 foot snow drifts.

There’s a 2nd unit in GA coming on line in the next year. So 4 units on that site, two sets of twins, one from decades ago, one just becoming fully operational.

government creates the problem, then the people scream to government to “DO SOMETHING!”. Government then creates more draconian laws which further oppress the people, yet the people forget that government caused the problem.

...and the cycle continues, like slowly fencing in wild hogs, until the gate violently snaps shut.
