President Jimmy Carter, 99, is mourning the passing of his beloved wife of 77 years, Rosalynn.
The former president reflected on her immeasurable impact on his life in a statement shared by The Carter Center Sunday.
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” Carter said. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Self censoring.
Nice tribute from a husband to his wife of 77 years.
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,”
So he waited until she died to give her equal blame for the utter clusterscrew his maladministration was.
Oh well, I guess she knew him well enough to expect it.
Anyway, RIP Ros Carter.
Yeah ... I’m not going to throw a lot of crap at her. She was married to the lout, but back then politicians’ wives generally knew that they were just politicians’ wives, not politicians in their own right. She was no exception to that rule. It took Hillary Clinton to really change things for the worse.
My understanding is she was very involved behind the scenes.
RIP Rosalyn beautiful lady.
Yes, hopefully we can all separate out the politics, and our political dislike of Carter and liberals, from the personal issue of him losing his wife of 77 years.
My tag line (appropriated from Red Badger) says it all.
I’m the last person in the world to be accused of being a Carter fan, but that was beautiful. Maybe I’m a chump, or maybe it’s the fact that I just lost my husband and best friend of the past sixty years last month, —— but it made me cry; again.
Definitely agree.
I will self-censor as well by not telling the local DC joke about Jimmy Carter and the Teddy Roosevelt bridge.
Was she also afraid of rabbits???
Jimmy was the last honest Democrat President. Not a lick of common sense or a dictator he didn’t like, though.
To give her credit Rosalynn Carter did stay in the background. I don’t remember one comment from her during Jimmah’s time in office.
I was more or less throwing shade at her worthless husband.
“Equal partner” huh?
Might be he’s looking for some shade and trying to make it to the 3 1/2 worst president in history.
Very sorry for your loss.
Rosalynn, from everything I ever read or heard you practiced 100% fidelity to your man for 77 years!
There are, in my opinion, millions of men in the world today that would have settled for just that. So, in our book, you are a real heroine. Jimmy was a lucky man. RIP.
