A Hollywood agency has reportedly dropped actress Susan Sarandon in the wake of a comment she made at a pro-Palestinian rally.
Sarandon, who had been represented by the agency UTA since 2014, stated at the rally in New York City that Jewish people who are afraid in the wake of Hamas's attack on Israel are "getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim" in the United States. As of Tuesday, she is no longer being represented by UTA, a spokesperson for the agency said.
The Oscar-winning actress's comment had greatly affected several staffers at UTA, according to the report.

Sarandon's comments also kicked up a storm on social media, with Asra Nomani, a Muslim author, rebuking what Sarandon had said, noting that her Muslim parents both lived very free lives in the U.S. She added that she was able to start her own business in 1981, which would have been denied to Muslim women "in so many Muslim countries."
"This is a 'taste' of life for a Muslim family in America," Nomani wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Please don't minimize the experience of Jewish Americans by sanitizing the hell that it is for Muslims living in Muslim countries and vilifying America for the life — and freedoms — she offers Muslims like my family."
Sarandon won her Oscar for best actress in 1995's Dead Man Walking and has been nominated for the category in several other films, including 1981's Atlantic City, 1991's Thelma and Louise, 1992's Lorenzo's Oil, and 1994's The Client. Most recently, she played the villain in 2023's Blue Beetle, which flopped at the box office with a total of $129,288,072.
Casting couch hire?
Side note to Susan: Be sure to strap your helmet on tight!
Bombs are now much more accurate than they were 60 years ago.
GOOD!
Indeed.
I hope that’s what happens to her career. Oh wait!
She really doesn’t use any common sense whatsoever. She reminds me of actress Vanessa Redgrave, who similarly has been very leftist most of her life and probably is pro Palestinian also.
I magine Susan at her age is not getting very a lot of roles but when she started out, she was a beautiful woman and I saw her in a lot of movies I liked.
No idea, although I lived in Hollywood in that timeframe, I didn’t travel in those circles...
LOL! Perfect. I need to watch that movie; I hear it’s a hoot. :)
Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Rumor has it she used to bring her own couch to auditions.
I just looked a clip. She looked old in 1978.
