Argentina's new president has vowed to 'get the Falklands back', saying it is 'non-negotiable' for Britain to hand them over and compares it to the UK returning Hong Kong to China

The right-wing former 'tantric sex coach' who has been elected president of Argentina believes the Falkland Islands belong to his nation and has vowed 'to get them back'.

Javier Milei, who uses a medium to communicate with his dead dog for advice on political matters, pulled off a massive upset by beating Argentina's Economy Minister Sergio Massa in Sunday's polarised presidential runoff.

But during his presidential campaign, Milei insisted that Britain returning the Falkland Islands was 'non-negotiable', adding that the territory, known as the Malvinas in Argentina, is Argentine.

Milei, a right-wing economist known as 'el Loco' - or the Madman - who promised to shake-up Argentina with his win, said he would 'make every effort' to get the Falkland Islands back - but stopped short of saying he would go to war over them.

He insisted it was 'non-negotiable' for Britain to hand the Falklands over to Argentina, comparing it to the UK returning Hong Kong to China.

The Falklands were the subject of a short but brutal war after Argentina invaded in 1982. Britain drove out the invaders after dispatching a naval armada, but the issue has never been considered settled in Buenos Aires.

Argentina believes the Falklands were illegally taken from it in 1833 and invaded the British colony in 1982. The United Kingdom sent troops and Argentina lost the two-month war for the archipelago in a conflict that claimed the lives of 649 Argentines and 255 British soldiers.

They had no choice. The lease they had from China for Hong Kong was up.

How could they have stopped it? Britain has a pathetic Navy now. Their one operational carrier finally does have planes on it. But the UK only has about 20 ships it could send to China. And that would be its entire blue water Navy. A carrier with 60 planes and a flotilla of destroyers and frigates. 6 attack subs. China would make short work of it.

For that matter they probably couldn’t defend the Falklands any more either. How the mighty have fallen.

Yeah, I’m sure the billions of dollars in oil, gas and minerals around the Falklands have nothing to do with it....

Argentina won’t wait 99 years. There is still a lot of hard feelings against England over the Falklands. In 2014 the guys of Top Gear did the “Patagonia Special” and were set to drive the length of Argentina.
Unbeknownst to them the car driven by Jeremy Clarkson had the license plate “H982 FKL”. Argentinian citizens thought it was a reference to the 1982 Falklands war. The entire cast and crew had to make a mad dash for Chile under Police escort while being pelted with rocks and other debris.

We do NOT want to piss Argentina off about the Falklands.

I distinctly remember that. Kinda slow motion as it takes a while to congeal an invasion force from ships scattered all over the world. And, it is a long ocean voyage.

This hit us personally as we were scheduled to return to the States on the QE2, which Thatcher seized as her troop ship. Bummer. Don’t blame her. Much more important to protect holdings against socialist pigs.

Billions and billions wasted on Ukraine which, surprise, turned out exactly how the world expected it would. Russia has been invading them for hundreds of years and aren’t likely to stop any time soon.

Trying to start WWIII over a tiny strip of land the size of Las Vegas. Those factions have been at war for a thousand years and will be for a thousand more.

Now, it’s the Falklands. Really? Another place that is none of our bleepin’ business with Argentina upset over what happened a couple hundred years ago. Argentina is going to be a member of BRICS come January. Yee-haw, another of our supposed friends with their hands out begging for US aid who is actively pushing for our demise. Hmm, how fast will Meghan in$i$t on Captain Harry signing up again?

Warmonger Joe needs a few more wars to throw our tax dollars at and chalk up another US failure.

I would think there are bigger priorities than getting a few rocks back.

dding that the territory, known as the Malvinas in Argentina, is Argentine.

Not a great plan.

They never were Argentine. You had a chance to build a colony on the Islands as did Spain. You both abandon them and ran home with your tails tucked between your legs crying like a turpentined pup.

The British built something there after you abandoned it and you do not get to just take it.

I don’t think that’s gonna work. The Falklanders themselves do not want to be part of Argentina. They’ve made that clear over and over again.

Rocks they never owned in the first place.

He who settles it owns it.

And the current population gets a voice.
