If you don’t like the pro-Hamas demonstrations by American college students, then you won’t like American higher education, which is the garden in which these flowers were grown.
Within hours of the atrocities committed by Hamas operatives who invaded Israel on October 7, groups of American college students had organized to express their support for the terrorists. This caught many Americans by surprise. How could college students at some of America’s best universities sympathize with the perpetrators of gruesome attacks on unarmed civilians?
The surprise, however, was not universal. Those of us who pay close attention to American higher education were well aware of the rising tide of antisemitism on many campuses, and aware as well of the anger that these institutions had honed against Israel and the sympathies they had cultivated for Palestinian radicals. College officials were likewise aware that, among the students enrolled in their institutions, a significant number are affiliated with factions that loathe Israel, support Palestinian “resistance,” and are well-organized practitioners of public protest. Some college presidents initially issued mealy-mouthed disapproval or offered criticisms of both Hamas and Israel as equally at fault. After finding their equivocations poorly received, they issued new statements that were sometimes sterner about Hamas, but often continued to chastise Israel as well.
Some college presidents did forthrightly condemn Hamas and express strong support for Israel. At the end of October, a coalition founded by 16 college presidents issued a statement titled, “We Stand Together with Israel Against Hamas.” That statement eventually collected over 100 signatories.
But the larger academic scene lacks such common sense.

Now you know why I dropped out of my post-grad Anthropology degree effort. Half the professors were crazy, like today’s.
these college administrators and faculty are absolutely DISGUSTING
they’ve no right mis- guiding students, who are mostly our youth, and especially not in such a extreme and immoral fashion
they should be promptly removed from campus!
they’re SICKENINGLY evil, sickening!
It is good that they did this, but these are not the elite Universities of the country. (maybe Notre Dame)
Zero from the Ivy League, or the highest academic level like MIT or Caltech.
Unfortunately, prestige beliefs and elite opinion and high status ideas flow from the Ivy League to the elites and major institutions of the country via the prestige press - NY TImes Wash Post, Atlantic, New Yorker.
If you saw what was happening in the Ivy League with BLM and LGBT around 2014-2015, you would have known that in a few years they would capture corporate America - and they have.
Same with pro-Hamas, unfortunately. Corporate America will be as pro-Palestinian in a few years as they are pro-LGBT now.
First saw it starting at UC Berkeley in an organized fashion in the late 1980s with a bunch of Yasser Arafat /PLO supporters and students from the region pushing anti Israel/Zionism and anti semitism as a new cause celeb for the campus radicals to rally against after the Soviet Union imploded and the Cold War ended.
I saw anti Israel stuff in the early 1980’s at universities in Canada, esp during the 1982 Invasion of Lebanon.
My point about 2015 wasn’t that it was the start date for support for the Palestinians, but how Ivy League attitudes move from the campus to the larger corporate and instutional world.
And my example was LGBT and BLM.
Yeah, Canada was on the leading edge.
I tried to get the research team of one of my old PhD students onto supporting a defense project and the whole group was rejected due to ties to Middle Eastern extremism.
Agree that the last few years of Obama was a real turning point in America.
This is not a debate.
This is a claxon to wake up Americans and the world.
This is a battle by barbarians against civilization.
To these sub-humans, Jews, Christians, Hindus, etc have no right to live on Earth. They are calling for genocide of anyone not agreeing with their psychosis and agenda of violence.
These campus terrorists lack basic humanity as they cheer the rape, murder, torture and mutilation of babies, the elderly and anyone who does not agree with their sick beliefs.
Those colleges and universities allowing this savagery to be condoned should be closed and bulldozed TO THE GROUND and all foreign students, sympathetic faculty and employees supporting this be immediately deported and NEVER allowed back into the USA or, if American citizens, prosecuted and imprisoned for conspiracy against rights and insurrection.
Seize the billions of dollars in endowments of these universities and use it to repay student debt incurred to receive worthless degrees handed out by these educational frauds and terrorist breeding grounds masquerading as colleges of higher education.
These institutions have become nothing but propaganda whores and violent accomplices bought by Arab barbarian governments to foment Islamic terrorism and jihad. Arab governments pump billions of dollars into these colleges-turned-madrassas to stir up violence and seek the bloodshed of all people NOT Muslim.
end the free ride, now

Does it go back to the Frankfurt school?
Where have they been the last years? Open disdain for the West, Whites and Christians has been prevalent. Or does that not count?
That’s it.
They don’t teach or educate anymore .They just fill their heads with hate ,for our country and our way of life.
Occasionally, a professor was wise...but that was the exception, not the rule.
And given that professors for the most part have no practical experience nor have they tested their theories in the real world, where's the value in what they know?
At least with math, there is an objective truth.
Today higher education appears to be lower than ever before.
The Left are insane. They can’t recognize evil. They rage against Christians claiming they want a Theocracy but embrace Islam. They accept the means to justify the end. OBL-9/11 & Hamas-10/7
I’m extremely happy to see these kind of articles. I’ve been saying this since 2000 when my 3rd daughter left for college. I started sensing things were wrong in her school system about the time she was in the 4th grade.
By the time she started middle school, I sat down with her every night to “learn” what she had been taught that day. I finally had enough with the deprogramming that was required and put her in a private Christian school. Another bad move.
The school had an awesome curriculum with really good non-union teachers. The problem was the shithead students. Too entitled and if you weren’t in their clique the kids taunted and harassed you until learning was impossible.
We eventually found a homeschool/private teacher option with 1 public high school class, band. She did a hybrid running start/AP instruction and was well prepared for the university, I thought.
Once in university it was everything she had experienced in public K-12 only worse, like everything had been on steroids. She slogged through and got her BA, and was done.
I still to this day, apologize for wasting 16 years of her early life. Until we fix the education system in America we are doomed to the type of life we see unfolding all around us every day.
I hope the pendulum has started its return swing with people seeing what’s going on in academia after the scamdemic and now seeing our Ivy League system for the indoctrination centers of HATE that they’ve become.
I’m starting to think the same way about our military.
