A 5-year-old boy died after being stabbed by his twin brother during a fight Wednesday near Santa Cruz, officials said.
Deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office arrived on a report of a stabbing at the 200 block of Tucker Road, in an unincorporated area in Scotts Valley near Highway 17. Officers on the scene discovered that a 5-year-old had stabbed his brother with a “small kitchen knife,” the sheriff’s office said in a Thursday statement.
When law enforcement arrived, they said they learned the twins had been fighting, “as siblings sometimes do,” the sheriff’s department said in the news release. The boy who was stabbed was transported to a hospital, where he died.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office called the stabbing a “tragedy” and said no charges would be filed in relation to the killing. According to California law, officials consider “age, criminal intent, and knowledge of wrongfulness,” when charging children with a crime, the department said. “Based on the current investigation, there is no indication of negligence or criminal activity by any other party,” they added.

Speechless....
Prayers up.
“teach your children well” rings hollow.
That is horrible. Very sad.
Where the hell were the parents? Five-year-olds fighting? No supervision by an adult? And one of the children has a knife? The parents are responsible for the death of the child. Gross negligence. What the hell is wrong with prosecutors?
That’s a kid who was born wrong.
dead ringers
hes copying me! ,,,,too soon?
no indication of negligence ??? Parents?
The parents/caregivers in this story are conspicuous by their absence.
What else is missing from this story?
It’s a heartbreaking story. When the 5-year-old twins are in a knife fight, I guess it’s easy to assume crappy parenting, and that’s probably the case. But it’s also one of those times we step back and remember all those stupid sibling spats (and squabbles with other kids) that happened when we were very young and thank God that nothing got out of hand and we say, “There but for the grace of God go I go.”
“There can be only one!”
So much for that old 60s CS&N “Teach Your Children” booschidt. The people in this country screwed that up. They’re killing each other right out of the cradle and the far-left turd rollers want to blame it on AR-15s. IT’S THE KIDS YOU IDIOT MORONS!!!
Wow! GMTA! I didn’t see this until I posted below.
Looks like a nice area on Google Earth.
Just as deadly as an AB-63 Assault butter knife. We need to ban those.
In the name of all that is holy, in what living environment does a five-year-old enter into such a state of uncontrollable rage that he picks up a knife and stabs his sibling, his twin no less. How is that even possible?
Better not ask Yogi this time, since this isn’t a race/ethnic issue-parents of all kinds apparently don’t know what parents are supposed to do with young kids any more-like not leaving any 5 year old alone with any other kid-even a sibling- unknown adult or even a pet, or near any drawers, cabinets, etc. If your kids are fighting, you stop it immediately, I don’t care who you are. Thee+ parent(s) who were not watching their twins are negligent, bigtime...
