I don’t know which one I liked more Stevie or Gracie.

They both were great.

Do you still perform?

Big G & S Fan here.

I had The Mikado, Iolanthe,Pirates of penzance, the Gondoliers, and HMS Pinafore Memorized by the sixth grade.

Saw Iolanthe on my tenth birthday, and went to a show every time the D’Oyly Carte came to Boston.

Sadly, the G & S fandom seems to be fading away. I hardly ever see productions anymore.

nopardons, I can’t believe you left out the love of my music life from the time I was a toddler!

The great

GEORGE JONES!

(My acoustic guitar is named Possum in his honor.)

:-D

Can you remember her partners real name?

They really were a good-looking couple.

I ADORE G&S; except for THE GONDOLIERS. :-(

My parents did G&S semi-professionally so I got exposed to it ( and lots of other music as well ) from the womb.

My parents' troop did THE very first full length G&S operetta on NBC, on early T.V., in the summer of 1949.

I am a true SAVOYARD and THE biggest Wm.S. Gilbert fan that EVER lived.

I Like Christy MacVie most of all (RIP).

Yes, I teach by day and sing by night (mostly jams and open mikes I’m retired from gigging because i can’t haul equipment anymore). I used to gig full time, but now I mostly encourage younger artists.

BTW, all the new kids are doing CLASSIC ROCK.

Thank you so much...I missed everything. I'm just going back reading post. Unusual week for me. Shared his message with my hubby. He agreed that we miss our great President. "MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

There are still a few G&S Society groups around.

I agree, though, rarely see many local productions, anymore.

Did you watch the Barbara Mandrell Show with your dad?

It was lots of fun with good Country music.

Or how about Hee Haw, now that was a hoot.

But could Roy Clark ever play the guitar.

I had a great time in Florida, as many of my vocal students performed in G&S productions. So I got to see a few shows a year, in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.

In Massachusetts thopugh, I haven’t seen anything listed.

That’s right! I remember your wonderful stories.....about your dear parents and their troupe!

I really wish you’d get out those scrapbooks and write a memoir about that fascinating time.

So much wonderful history, my dear.

I would LOVE to go through all of your memorabilia, while listening to your stories.

I have seen them ALL in person ( my parents' troop AND the wonderful D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, in NYC ) many times over.

Had them ALL under by belt at age 4, except for PRINCESS IDA, which I finally did see when I was 11.

So happy to meet another fan!!!!!

I'm such a nutter, that we stay at The Savoy when we go to London and have seen quite a few plays at the Savoy Theatre.

I've been to Grim's Dyke ( Gilbert's last palatial home, which is now an hotel and where his operettas are still performed ), which is in Harrow .

You named your guitar?

Well, Jones was great, but slipped my mind; sorry about that.

Lol!

I do love it!

It’s calming for me.

My favorite is the violin.

It was funny - a couple of years ago I found out that I have a half sister.

We had known each other our whole lives and were pretty sure but waiting on the dna results.

When the result came the first thing I wanted to do was to go to the back room alone and play my violin for a while.

:-)

That is AWESOME!

Someone asked me if I thought it was too hard to sing “Born to Run” by Springsteen, because it is very wordy.

Heck, I could sing “The Nightmare Song” when I was a kid. I used to stand up in school and sing it, and the teacher would plotz. LOL!

Nope, I can see him in my mind's eye, right now, see them both dancing and for the life of me, do NOT remember his name. :-(

Just looked it up...his name was Bob Clayton.

My gold glitter electric one is named Sparkle.

I think I did catch a few episodes of Barbara’s show, as well as Hee Haw...with dad!

I remember .... SAL - ute! Not even sure what that is related to!

Mom had nothing to do with either show...ha!

At least it wasn’t Lawrence Welk.....my Granddad watched that 😴

I did not name my guitar, but I did name my Harley.

Her name is "BLUE".
