Trump Campaign Swats Down Heritage Foundation Transition Effort Led by Longtime DeSantis Ally

The Trump campaign distanced itself on Monday from a transition project led by the Heritage Foundation and other aligned groups that have broadcast their efforts to screen staffers for a second Trump administration and root out dissenters via social media posts.

Trump advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita on Monday distanced the campaign from the Heritage-led effort, saying that those plans are "not authorized in any way."

"Any personnel lists, policy agendas, or government plans published anywhere are merely suggestions," the statement says. "Policy recommendations from external allies are just that—recommendations."

While the Trump campaign's statement did not mention the Heritage Foundation by name, the conservative think tank is behind the largest effort to "prepare for the next conservative presidential administration" through its Project 2025, a sprawling endeavor that employs a slew of Trump administration loyalists.

Outside of Project 2025, however, Heritage has worked closely with Florida governor Ron DeSantis, who is challenging Trump for the Republican nomination.

Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts and others have traveled regularly to Tallahassee to meet with the Florida governor and have shaped DeSantis's position on Ukraine—specifically, his controversial characterization of the conflict as a "territorial dispute," according to a Reuters report.

Trump is right to be careful as to recommendations for staff members. He should take advice from very few. Maybe just from Donald Trump, Jr. LOL!

Also, the Heritage Foundation's Supreme Court picks were not as solid Constitution-supporting justices as we were led to believe.

What???

You'd think Trump would welcome their help in selecting Administrative staffers since he sucks at it.

Help from who? That’s the whole point. Does it matter who’s giving him the “help”? If not, why not ask the DNC for their recommendations?

“Help from who?”

From the Heritage Foundation that’s who. One of the greatest most conservative think tanks in the country.

>>”One of the greatest most conservative think tanks in the country.”

That’s debatable. They were at one time, but they have their RINOs like most conservative organizations do. CPAC is another one that has changed over time, becoming less grassroots and more establishment. Besides, while the MAGA agenda and the conservative agenda have a great deal of overlap, they differ in two key areas - foreign policy and foreign trade.

Their last President, Kay ..... (can’t recall her last name) was as UniParty as this current President.

No thanks, Heritage.

George HW Bush had help from John Sununu naming a supreme court pick. Ended up with David Souter, the first spectrum disordered Justice.

No. The number of “good” people to choose from swamp are very very few. Trump should follow example of JFK who appointed his brother for AG. Trump has 2 good dependable sons.

“I reside in Florida for 8 years. Florida was better before DeSantis.”

I’ve been here a lot longer than you, and the conservative consensus is Ron Desantis is the best Governor this state has had in living memory. He’s the best Governor in the Country, period.

And I’m a huge fan. Met him several times.

He was my congress critter before running for gov, and he was fantastic in the House, too. Founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, back when Boehner and Paul tried to destroy them.

Look at his accomplishments as Governor. The list is long and wide. Way too many to list here. School choice, kept the state open during scamdemic, parental rights, tax cuts, in the top 3 states for public education, same with best economy, low cost of living, low taxes, no state income tax...on and on.

Why do you think everyone, like yourself, is moving here? Leftists HATE Desantis as much as Trump.

Whoever you are, which ever blue state you moved here from, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Right. He was outstanding in the House. What was he did again? Oh, that’s right. I remember the time he voted against Boehner for speaker. Oh wait. Never mind. It was Ryan. Oh wait. Never mind. BTW, I was born in Florida and have lived all but 10 of my 60 years here. Does that qualify me to weigh in?

Things change. I wouldn’t put the same faith in Heritage I did 20 years ago.
