Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday refused to answer whether he would take responsibility for failing to prevent the October 7 attack on Israel, saying that there would be time for such “difficult” questions once the war is over.
In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Netanyahu acknowledged that it is “a question that needs to be asked,” but that the country for now needs to unite around the goal of defeating Hamas – the militant group that controls Gaza and and launched the assault on Israel.
“We’re going to answer all these questions,” the prime minister said, adding that, “Right now, I think what we have to do is unite the country for one purpose; to achieve victory.”
“Let’s focus on victory – that’s my responsibility now.”
Netanyahu has been criticized for failing to anticipate the deadliest attack on Israel since the country’s founding in 1948, when Hamas militants killed more than 1,200 people and took more than 200 hostages last month, according to Israeli authorities.

You do not answer “Do you still beat your wife?” questions.
You beat me by moments.
Mistake Number One: Going on a CNN or similar show.
He should have asked CNN if their embedded journalists report beforehand the attack was to take place. Do all their journalists carry grenades? How high up in CNN management know about the attack?
That’s why he makes the big bucks.😉
Nice victim blaming there, CNN.
Total scum.
Those effin murderers can take responsibility
Ooooh....CNN has a concern, about Bibi not answering CNN.
Ooooh.
SPOT ON, Betty Jane!
The attack was not his fault. I haven’t been his biggest fan in the past, but this is squarely the blame of the rapist murderous moslems.
They conducted a well executed deception plan, including signing an agreement for more work visas etc, in exchange for them agreeing to not conduct more rocket launches. They stopped rocket launches in the time leading up to the attack. They used work visa Gazans to conduct very detailed reconnaissance.
They just successfully conducted a sneak attack. Netanyahu has done a great job in the aftermath, and I cannot imagine any alternative would have been better. Some would have been much worse.
If you want to blame someone, blame the intelligence and military leaders who lead, encouraged and pushed those giant street demonstrations against the judicial reform law. THEY are the proximate cause.
The media wants to talk about ANYTHING except the scrotes who did this and exactly what they did.
I believe the only appropriate response to that question would have been “what are you, some kind of effing moron?”
He was much too polite… Way more polite than I would’ve been.
E. Pluribus Unum, do you still beat sasquatch? Even by moments sometimes?
Please explain how a bunch of lightly trained irregular troops with AK-47s using dirt bikes and hang gliders were able to totally humiliate the IDF? This is an Israeli defense that you and I have spent tens of billions on. Netanyahu was comatose asleep at the wheel. This was no bolt from the blue, Day of Infamy, sneak attack. Everyone knew HAMAS was always attacking, doing everything within their abilities to attack. If Netanyahu and Mossad had their eyes on the ball rather than screwing around in Ukraine trying curry favor with the oligarchy in DC, none of this would have happened. 10/7 would have been a lightly noticed massacre of Hamas fighters who were foolish enough to attack the Israeli border defenses.
To be clear, and CNN is not, Hamas was responsible for the Oct 7 attack. There should be an enquiry about how it was so easy for them. Netanyahu may have culpability.
Who in their right minds would allow interview with the most inept “reporters” in the multiverse of multiverses?
The real full story of October 7th remains to be told just as the real full story of January 6th remains to be told.
CNN needs to be asked what they knew and when they knew it, because their reporter sure knew a lot
Some people were definitely asleep at the wheel for this to have occurred undetected. Looking forward to hearing the recriminations!
This is Deep State intelligence stuff and Netanyahu had his enemies there just as sure as Trump did.
Biden wants to bend Netanyahu his way and who knows.
It is true that Netanyahu allowed Hamas to get money from Qatar for many years but the idea was that the money would keep them quiet.
Not a good idea but the kind the Deep State Intelligence people come up with in this day and age.
Use terrorists to maintain the order and the balance of things like using Al Qaeda to fight against Assad in Syria back in 2011.
