Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...you and Tippy ready to tackle the new week?
I am thankful my street was plowed on Saturday, that I could go into work and take care of the weekly stuff, and now I don’t have to go anywhere til Thursday.
Hi Kathy and thanks for honoring tonight’s Hero!
We both have our winter coats now! Brrrrr
Don’t forget your spikies!! Falling is NOT an option for either one of us!!
I had to put my spikies on my “deck” shoes. Temps were up enough today that all along, under the eaves, there is a huge puddle, that is now a sheet of ice.
Falling is NOT an option! Amen!
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
Good evening, Pro...we must remember the parts they played in our freedom.
Good evening, radu...a good day of rest and recuperation?
Sunny here, which was nice until I started to go out on the deck...drip, drip, drip. A huge puddle that was already ice. Had to put my spikies on my “deck” shoes and put down ice melt. Gonna have to be REALLY careful going out and back in.
Hai Kathy! ((Hugs)) yeah, great game right up to the end. Now rain really coming down, woof .....
Hope you are on high ground! Or keep your water wings handy.
Hey there, radu!
Are you now rested up after the exciting weekend at the museum? I’m reeeellly looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning! :)
Howdy, Kathy.
Yes, it was a nice quiet day of rest today. Much-needed and I feel better for it. I was really sore last night.
Did you find some time for a little R&R to recharge your batteries for the upcoming week?
You had crazy weather today. Pea soup fog this morning and clear blues skies for a while this afternoon, then clouds rolled back in.
Be careful on your deck!
Howdy, luvie.
Yep, feelin’ better tonight after a lazy day. Whew! Yesterday was a lot of fun but I felt every minute of it last night. LOL
I hear ya on looking forward to sleeping in. I was there this time last night. I went to bed early, I was so zonked.
Enjoy sleeping in and feeling like a new woman when you wake up. :-)
Hello Kathy!
Bat Guano here to tell you my story about John Finn.
Many years ago, I was flying from Chicago to Albany, NY on United Airlines, my company, that I retired from in 2000.
I was sitting in first class and seated next to an elderly man.
After exchanging pleasantries, he fell asleep and after level off, the Flight attendants started serving dinner. The FA asked me if my friend wanted to have dinner. He was sleeping so I made a decision to say yes. The FA woke him up and asked if he wanted to be served. He replied, “Yes, I am sleepy but very Hungary too. He thanked her and me for waking him up.
After dinner, we had a great conversation. Mr. Finn. inquired if I had “seen service?” I told him about my service in the US Air Force and he was curious about what and where I had served. My story was short and the conversation switched to him. He said that he was a Navy Officer who had served on the “Saratoga.”
He was on his way to a reunion in Saratoga Springs, NY of sailors who had served on that ship.
He continued to say that he was, “getting old,” and didn’t miss any opportunity to attend reunions.
He then said that his most important reunion and the one he was most proudest of was the “Congressional Medal of Honor” reunion.
I still remember the goose bumps that raised all over my body when I realized that I was talking to a Medal of Honor recipient.
Mr. Finn was greeted, at the end of the Jet bridge in Albany, by a host of Navy “Brass,” and it was there we said our good byes.
Later, I looked up “John Finn,” CMOH and read about his heroism. Again, Goose Bumps!
He must have been the FIRST to be given that award, in World War Two.
Two places that have excellent Medal of Honor remembrances, that I have visited, are New Orleans,’LA WWII museum and Charleston, SC.
Hope you had a memorable Veterans Day. I attended a FSU vs Miami Football game. Did I have fun? Of course. I did and had many “thank you for your service,” remarks from so many people. My reply was, “It is the thing I’m most proudest of, in my life!”
Best Regards, to all,
Bat
