McCaul: GOP has ‘no choice’ but to unify on short-term funding

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul (R-Texas) said on Sunday that Republicans have no choice but to back the short-term funding proposal.

In an interview on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” McCaul stressed the importance of passing aid for our foreign allies, which will not be feasible if the government shuts down.

“We’re gonna have to. I mean, there’s no choice here,” McCaul said when asked whether Republicans can pass the continuing resolution (CR) proposal that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) unveiled Saturday.

Why is the United States funding other countries when we have to borrow money?

Forty Years of "Short-Term Funding" and what do you get? Thirty Four Trillion in debt. Old Tennessee Ernie knew all about it and was way ahead of his time...
Some people say a man is made out of mud
A poor man's made out of muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's weak and a back that's strong

You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me, 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

Today, it's "I owe my soul to FedZilla"

We have all been loading sixteen tons every single day all our lives to feed this insatiable beast and they have bankrupted us. Those bastards in DC really believe that there is no amount too big to take from us, either by taxes or national debt driving inflation. The latest treasury auction had to bump rates offered to get people to buy USA debt. Not a good sign.

Foreign aid funding is the MUST HAVE? Heck no. There is money for Israel sitting on Shumer’s desk (prior to the last bill the House just passed that was offset by IRS cuts). Ukraine should get zero.

“But I don’t think we can play political games with this, to support our ally,” McCaul said.”

McCaul is right, but he is wrong.

The true “political games” are the politics that says, with our huge deficits, we do not need and should not make spending offsets for funding things in support of our allies. With Biden’s extra trillions in spending we have to insist in spending offsets for every extra dime asked for. That is NOT “playing politics”. That’s what is fiscally prudent and right.

Good news-I was hoping he would-Chip Roy is my critter-he was showing a bit of RINO interest, but a barrage of calls and promises of a challenge from voters appears to have got him to support the new SOH...

The federal government should be shut down and defunded until we address the election fraud across state lines and with mail-in ballots. An illegitimate government should not be funded.

Just spent a week in Florida.
Cape Coral, Fort Myers area.
Took a drive downtown Fort Myers by the waterfront.
The four lane waterfront road was vacant of cars.
The homes, condos, and hotels are abandoned and deserted.
The homes and businesses on the other side of the road were battered and destroyed.
There’s even a very large boat in the woods.
This was ground zero last year.
It’s going to take years to recover.
And still no funds from the feds.
After we take care of our own, we can talk about taking care of someone else.
Period.

Weasel bitch. Our foreign allies have their own money. Tell THEM to tax their own citizens if they want more.

Because we still think we are the big superpower post WWII.
Wake up America, a bankrupt nation needing to borrow Trillions of dollars every year is a bankrupt superpower.
Bankrupt superpowers in history all went down the tubes.
