Commentary on new video making the rounds.
Phd Gets Owned by Marines IQ Score.
(Excerpt) Read more at youtu.be ...
I watched the video two weeks ago, and have the impression that the PhD gal felt her achievements were hyped because she went to college (probably paying $120k) and the PhD is the sole measurement of her IQ. She believes it....so it must be true (in her mind).
I would go to suggest (sadly) that if you measured her IQ prior to any college...it probably has not improved or gone up...thus making the value of college remarkably worthless.
Does she have a PhD in Gender and Queer Studies with a minor is Social Justice?
A PhD represents an achievement in one small area of study, it is not a measure of intelligence.
Many people are educated beyond their common sense. Having spent most of my life in academia, I have noticed that it is the norm, not the exception.
There’s more to IQ than book learnin’
Materialist thought beleives that all phenomena, including consciousness, can be explained by physical processes. Gilbert Ryle, forensically pushed the thought that dualists, (proponents of 17th-century French thinker René Descartes), maintain that we possess a nonphysical mind or soul, distinct from the body. Ryle famously coined the term “ghost in the machine” to poke fun at the belief that an immaterial mind controls the physical body.
Graduate degrees in various concentrations amount to ones ability to organize responses to the syllabus, made all the more easier with the PC.
“Look at me” PhD’s are quite common and souless.
The video originated on TikTok. If I had to bet, I’d bet it’s fake.
I have a friend with a PHD and he teaches in good University. The guy can’t even start his lawn mower, seriously. His wife does anything chore related.
Nothing developed EQ like a good drill Sargent.
The whole video is cloying.
There was a time when a PhD was earned through hard wok on the part of a very bright and determined individual. That time has passed.
Sorry, I couldn’t stay with it. The commentator is annoying.
I had that feeling, as well.
*hard work
Hard wok is involved, too, I suppose if one is pursuing a degree in culinary arts.
I would say the Ph.D. is one measure of intelligence, but common sense, problem solving, understanding the widespread ramifications of any action or idea, milieu recognition are just as much as an intelligence indicator.
The plethora of “easy” Ph. D’s in “soft” subjects really downgrades the importance of it.
These days, a PHD isn’t a measure of intelligence - you can get a PHD for being a pervert and writing/talking about perversions...
Witness “DR.” Jill!!
