The theft happened in September 2019, when the solid gold toilet named "America," an art piece by Maurizio Cattalan, had been installed as part of an exhibition where people were invited to use the fully functioning toilet at Blenheim Palace, approximately 65 miles northwest of London.
The toilet had only been installed for two days before the theft occurred and the Thames Valley police received a report of the burglary at the palace at 4:57 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2019, saying that the offenders broke in overnight and left the scene of the crime at 4:50 a.m.
"The piece of art that has been stolen is a high value toilet made out of gold that was on display at the palace," said Detective Inspector Jess Milne of Thames Valley Police at the time of the theft. "Due to the toilet being plumbed in to the building, this has caused significant damage and flooding. We believe a group offenders used at least two vehicles during the offense."
Now, more than four years after the heist, the Crown Prosecution Service has formally charged four men in relation to the theft of the solid gold toilet.

A toilet that allows one to crap on America? They could charge to use it and make a fortune from Democrats.
I bet white hats took it.
A toilet called “America.” Once upon a time that would have really offended me; now it is just sort of accurate, unfortunately.
🤔
When Germany invaded Denmark in World War II, Hungarian chemist George de Hevesy dissolved the gold Nobel Prizes of German physicists Max von Laue (1914) and James Franck (1925) in aqua regia to prevent the Nazis from confiscating them. The German government had prohibited Germans from accepting or keeping any Nobel Prize after jailed peace activist Carl von Ossietzky had received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1935.De Hevesy placed the resulting solution on a shelf in his laboratory at the Niels Bohr Institute. It was subsequently ignored by the Nazis who thought the jar—one of perhaps hundreds on the shelving—contained common chemicals. After the war, de Hevesy returned to find the solution undisturbed and precipitated the gold out of the acid. The gold was returned to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Nobel Foundation. They re-cast the medals and again presented them to Laue and Franck.[12][13]
people were invited to use the fully functioning toilet at Blenheim Palace,Museum curators are among the lowest of creatures, perhaps just above drug dealers and US Senators.
Well ain’t that some $hit.
Prankster of the art world, huh? Does he take requests? If so, how about “Frog’s a$$ stretched over a rain barrel”? BUT, instead of the frog, we could use his.
... and got 6 figures when he sold it.
Guess it’s been melted down
you wouldn’t take the golden flush?
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the public.
I cannot find a link to the article, but it looks like these are available from a different company
They were going to clean up.
A copper crapper caper?
There was a FR thread in that time-line of the theft of the throne.
Noice!
A toilet called America isnt offensive anymore but one coming from the UK is laughable. They are in much worse shape.
