Youngkin, McConnell Candidates Fail As DeSantis-World Bizarrely Blames Trump
The National Pulse ^ | November 8, 2023

Posted on 11/08/2023 7:46:44 AM PST by SoConPubbie

Democrats have regained full control of the Virginia General Assembly in a blow to Governor Glenn Youngkin, who poured millions of dollars into securing the legislature for his final two years in office. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell also saw his Kentucky Governor candidate, Daniel Cameron, lose to Democrat Andy Beshear.

Anti-Trumpers within the GOP ranks have rushed to somehow blame the 45th President for the GOP’s pitiful displays on Wednesday, including an abortion rights blow-out in Ohio.

But Trump’s endorsement of Cameron was a last ditch attempt to save a struggling GOP campaign that has been stymied by its establishment backers, including recent DeSantis endorser Kim Reynolds, head of the Republican Governor’s Association, who failed to campaign or even mention Cameron’s race once, preoccupied with campaigning with DeSantis across Iowa.

Youngkin, who many had tipped to enter the Presidential race if his slate of candidates did well on Tuesday, is also a client of DeSantis’s chief strategist Jeff Roe, which is likely why the Florida Governor’s online operation has been told to trash Trump on the back of Tuesday night, rather than have the limelight aimed at Roe and his network.

The Democratic Party not only maintained its slim majority in the Virginia State Senate, but also seized control of the House of Delegates, held by Republicans since 2021.

Youngkin did not immediately comment on the results. The chairman of his PAC, Dave Rexrode, however, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “[w]e had hoped for a stronger outcome this evening but are proud of the effort all of our candidates put in to these extremely competitive districts.”

Well, a Trump endorsement would certainly ensure that happens.

Cameron was on his way to winning the primary before the Trump endorsement was made.

Walker was a bad pick, and yet you come to the conclusion that Trump is excellent at picking losers, by cherry picking two races (Oz and Walker) out of the approximately 500 endorsements Trump’s given in the last 5 years? Trump’s actual endorsement record shows him to be quite good at picking winners or helping underdogs to become winners. In past years, he’s been consistently well above 50%. In his worst year, this one, he’s broke even.

If Trump really wants to finish DeSantis off, he should just endorse him.

Just like he did for Stacey Abrams!

No need. It’s already a foregone conclusion.

Thank you for reminding me of the newest derogatory name for the Governor of Florida.

Whatever else you might think of Trump, you have to recognize him as the world’s greatest name-caller.

I see that idea that Cameron is McConnell’s protégé or something like that so often that I wonder how true it really is. There was even a rumor that Cameron was married to Mitch’s granddaughter. A lot of people in politics started out as somebody or other’s protégé. I wonder why we hear that so repeatedly and constantly about Cameron. It sounds a little like a smear.

Same standard must also be applied to the myriad of memes that are smears from the DeSantis camp.

Otherwise it has no value and is lacking in ethics.

Don't expect honesty or objectivity from DeSanctimonious supporters.

Just like the guy they support, they lack these two character traits.

I didn’t criticize Trump for trying to help Cameron. I tried myself to help the guy.

Look, Trump has his strengths and his weaknesses. He’s a package deal. You like that he has charisma. You like that he can appeal to voters in the rust belt. You like that he opened up our party to minorities. Well, try to consider these things when you criticize him for his short-comings. By “you”, I mean when “I” criticize him.

I almost forgot. What about Trump’s sense of humor? Didn’t you love it when he said we were going to build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it? It was a joke, people. Not completely. But, it was a joke. The guy’s rallies were parties! He put the “party” back into the Republican Party.

And polls aside, I’d point out that Beshear won his last election in a squeaker in a very red state.

Kentucky is hardly a "very red state," though you'd never know it from the way the state has voted over the years (especially in presidential elections).

The Republicans have a narrow margin among voter registrations in KY (1.60 million to 1.52 million), but Democrats outnumbered Republicans among the state's registered voters up until 2022.

Another Freeper astutely noted the highly myopic voter base in Kentucky earlier today. The slogan of the state's average Republican voter would be: "God, Guns and Food Stamps" LOL.

He picks his friends. Walker was his friend. Oz was his friend. I mean... this man hired Omarosa to work IN THE WHITE HOUSE for crying out loud. He’s horrible at hiring and endorsing.

Ahhh….in case DeSantis buddies haven’t noticed, Pres.Trump has been a bit busy trying to stay out of jail. Meanwhile the RNC is wining and dining the unelectable gang of Munchkins that are STILL trying to win the Primary. It’s mind blowing the amount of money spent on these losers.

What war was he campaigning on? I guess it doesn’t matter since foreign policy is the job of a President not a governor.

McConnell is the least popular Senate and Republican politician in the country. A lot has change since even 2020.

McConnell went out of his way to smear Trump and the J6 protesters after the 2020 election. He went out of his way to undermine MAGA candidates in 2022.

“McConnell is the least popular Senate and Republican politician in the country. A lot has change since even 2020.”

That’s your guess.

But even stipulating that that is accurate, President Trump had an opportunity to endorse HIS OWN U.N. AMBASSADOR in the primary but passed on her, and now claims that Cameron was tainted by his association with McConnell.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......

Why did he endorse Cameron in the primary??

For the life of me, I cannot understand why any sentient American would vote for any Democrat at any level of government!

Democrats have been 100% behind, at every level of government, VERY harmful, VERY anti-American, VERY anti-Constitution, VERY anti-Christian ideas, policies and legislation designed for the express purpose of destroying America!

How can We the People take control FRom these VERY EVIL people?

And relegate them to the ash heap of History where they so rightly belong?

More to the point, CAN WE?

Yep. Nothing about McConnell there. He was definitely endorsed by Trump.

Daniel’s a good guy with a lovely family. Too bad he didn’t win.
