"Slit your wrists," strangers texted me.
"If anyone deserves prison rape, it's you," people I had never met called me to say.
"The noble thing to do is to remove yourself from society...so please kill yourself."
I'm Amy Cooper, but you probably know me as "Central Park Karen." You may not know my name, but you probably know my story—or at least the two-minute version of the story that was broadcast all over the world without key facts or context.
Everyone believed and amplified one story: That a white "Central Park Karen" called the police on an innocent Black man, a bird watcher, because of the color of his skin.
Today, I want you to read and understand the whole story. Not just what the media told you. And after you assess both sides—please tell me—was my never-ending cancel-culture sentence a just verdict?
On May 25, 2020, in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, when anxieties ran high, I took my dog—whom my life revolved around—for a walk.
I visited Central Park in the morning, during the hours when dogs were allowed off-leash. On my way home, I chose to take an unfamiliar path, landing in "the Ramble," a secluded area of Central Park.
Seconds later, I heard a voice boom: "Get out of here. You shouldn't be here." I saw a man who began yelling at me that my dog should be on his leash.

She had her dog off-leash during the correct time period, but she says she “landed in The Ramble” and dogs are not allowed off-leash there. There are a bunch of places in the park where dogs are not allowed to run free:

That being said, she could be right about him being a troublemaker.
No agenda here as noted by her choice of words, is there?
This lady needs serious help.
That is entirely possible, however the tone of her entire article, suggests that she has issues to work through as well.
That said, cancel culture is WAY out of control. They are nothing but a bunch of internet bullies that need to get a life.
” I took my dog—whom my life revolved around..”
Yes she had her dog off leash in an area of the park where dogs are supposed to be on a leash. Pretty simple, except when the guy asked her to leash it that’s when she went all racist Karen.
Notice how she doesn’t take responsibility for the root of the problem. She’s a typical dog-hole - rude and entitled and rules don’t apply to her and her filthy mutt.
Karen *should* have had her dog on a leash; and her husband with her.
Notice anything with the following?
"but they don't want to come forward because they are white, and Christian is Black.
Nobody even remembers her anymore. This article is an attempt to cling to the notoriety.
Years ago, I and my family were falsely accused in a situation that aroused a lot of emotions. I was shocked at the hatred mindlessly directed at us for unproven allegations. Fortunately, our names were not released. The irresponsible director of the not-for-profit who was trying to use this situation for fund-raising backed off her accusations and calmed things down. She was about to get sued for deformation if our names had been revealed because what she alleged could be charged as felonies. She and/or her board of directors and/or attorney recognized that not only were the charges false but could be easily and definitely proven unfounded. She didn't come out and say she was wrong but implied that there was more to the story than was revealed earlier. Anyway, the furor died down and because our names weren't released, I let it go.
Media are leftist.
Lefitsts lie.
About everything.
This woman appears to have been gravely wronged ... a wrong which is tempered only by the high probability that she still votes for democrats ... IF that is the case, her voting pattern enables the wrong which appears to have been done to her.
Why didn’t she just put the dog on its leash as soon as he spoke up?
She needs serious help? If she is still living in New York, there is nothing that can help her.
***I was a female, alone in a secluded area of Central Park***, with a man yelling at me and threatening me. ***As a victim of a sexual assault in my late teens,*** I was completely panicked for my safety and wellbeing.
it obviously was not a learning experience...
She was harassed to the point she had to leave the country for a while. And she SHOULD give the truth. The media certainly isn’t. Humans are too inclined to glom onto the first thing they hear & not wait for all the facts. This teaches a lesson. Unfortunately, the people who need to read this probably never will.
“Acting from a place of panic and vulnerability, I told Christian that I was going to call the police and what I planned to say, hoping that would be enough to dissuade him from his earlier threat.”
All she had to do was walk away.
Unless she’s willing to change, you are correct.
People can only be helped who want to be helped.
I knew a woman who was a mess and she wanted out of her mess and for others to help her, but did not really want to be helped in anyway that would require HER to work on it. All she wanted was out of the consequences of her own poor decisions.
That kind of harassment is so wrong.
People need to mind their own business more and stop bullying others on the internet or even in real life.

+++++++++++++++
“Oh sure I’m sorry you’re right, of course I will put my dog on a leash - like the nearby sign clearly says is the rule for this area of the park”.
All she had to say - and she would have been fine.
But hey she’s a dog typical dog nutter and rules and other people don’t matter.
