Republicans painted Long Island completely red Tuesday night with the party’s candidate Ed Romaine winning a landslide victory against Democrat David Calone to become Suffolk County executive.
The GOP now occupies all the countywide seats in Nassau and Suffolk Counties — both county executive seats, the district attorney and comptroller’s offices, as well as all four congressional seats.
Romaine sailed to victory with 56% of the vote, beating Calone by more than 26,000 votes.
“This is a political earthquake,” said former US Sen. Al D’Amato.
Longtime analysts of Long Island politics said they could recall only one brief period in the last 60 years when the GOP was this dominant
“Long Island for now is defiantly returning to its red roots,” said Lawrence Levy, dean of Hofstra University’s National Center for Suburban Studies

All is not lost. Some good news. At least for me.
I was checking the Mississippi results and with Reeves looking like he’s going to win against Elvis’s relative the entire state is tomato red. Va despite Youngkins popularity had a ton of money thrown at it like 3-1. Cameron lost because of things I brought up before. And Ohio let’s face it people want abortion anyway they can get it.
And remember, Louisiana went Republican last month in the Governors race.

Republican turnout was very strong even though there are more Democrats registered.

They are all on Long Island. The article notwithstanding, LI has always been a Republican strong hold that went purple.

Wasn’t Long Island attempting to be a separate state several years ago?
It’s our 3rd year of a red wave. The crime wave in NYC changed Long Island in a major way. We also don’t have the abortion issue here because it is settled.

Yes and the news media constantly saying how Trump is ahead is going to get them out in droves.
Long Island was turning Red. Three years ago both County Executives and district attorneys were Democrats. Two of four congressional seats on Long Island were Democrat. There are still more registered Democrats than Republicans.
It seems to have reversed course.
The Cross Island Parkway is a symbolic wall.
Did they run MS-13 as candidates?
