Gaza might become an international protectorate after the war, the EU has said, adding that neither Palestinian group Hamas nor Israel should ever rule there again.
“After the previous Gaza wars, Hamas immediately started rebuilding its arsenal and preparing for the next conflict. This cannot be the case any longer. Different ideas are being discussed on how this can be ensured, including an international peace force under UN mandate,” said European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen on Monday (6 November).
“There can be no long-term Israeli security presence in Gaza. Gaza is an essential part of any future Palestinian state,” she added.
“Forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza … would only be a recipe for more regional instability,” she said. […]
Von der Leyen also promised an extra €25 million in EU humanitarian aid to Gaza, but Israeli fire means the vast majority of foreign aid cannot get in. Israeli bombs have also killed over 60 UN aid workers in Gaza.
“A maritime corridor from Cyprus … would guarantee a sustained, regulated, and robust flow of aid,” Von der Leyen said. […]
… (EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell) warned that the EU’s reaction to Gaza was being carefully watched by African, South American, and Asian states, some of which were calling out “double standards” in Europe’s hard line on Russia and soft one on Israel.
The Arab-Israeli conflict risked being seen as a “civilizational fight” between the West and Muslim people in the wider world, he added.
”We [the EU] are not an outpost of the Western world — we are the keeper of globally shared values based on the UN charter,” he said. …

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, she said, she said, she said..
Have you noticed just about all the the Hamas supporting protesters at the university’s, and else where, are women..?

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
That doesn’t pass the smell test. Not when we recall how many US politicians were/are involved in the whole money laundering operation that IS ‘The Ukraine’.
The monkeyshines have been going on for so long, involve so many people at so many levels of US politics/’diplomacy’, and involving Democratic and Republican individuals.... both IN an OUT of the current administration.
It’s a very crude and ugly system of corruption which the US will likely NEVER live down
But as others have posted, U.S. foreign aid is required, by law, to maintain Israel's military advantage. So let's not pretend that aid to Israel and its Arab enemies are equivalent.
Israel should annex Gaza and expel the arabs.
Priti Patel discussed giving British foreign aid money to Israeli army, Downing Street confirms
The U.S aid is all military aid. The U.S gets a good return on this aid, via research and development of weapons systems.
We helped fund Iron Dome. Yet no "return" for our funding.
US Army scraps $1b. Iron Dome project, after Israel refuses to provide key codes
You think U.S security stops at the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. To ensure it doesn’t you have alliances. In return for providing aid or security guarantees/umbrellas to those allies the U.S gets bases, ports, overflight rights. A whole lot of stuff that for now keeps the U.S insulated from war at home.
Peaceful republics, those who don't meddle in the affairs of foreign nations, don't need overseas bases or alliances. It's sufficient to protect our borders.
Only empires need bases and alliances.
If the far weaker Switzerland can remain neutral, without overseas bases and military alliances, a nuclear U.S. can certainly pursue that model.
The British did that from 1921 to 1948, and it didn’t end well for them. It’ll end worse for the “EUSSR” (can I use that?)!
EU should just stuff it!
“discussed foreign aid” does not mean sending foreign aid. Is your post some sort of Snopes debunking that doesn’t address the claim being made?
Like I said, there are huge petroleum reserves / natural gas under the tunnels under Gaza.
Opus?
Discussed funding and ‘funds’ Israel are entirely different matrers. You made the claim Britain funds Israel and that’s a load of crap.
With that Mediterranean coastline...how about Oprah Winfrey and The Rock?
Exactly! Show the world what Gaza SHOULD have been.
Like the that existed in the past?
UK Government Bolsters Israel With Military Aid.
You also claimed the U.S. gets a "return" for "investing" in Israel's military. I see you're not responding to my link debunking that claim (i.e., we helped finance Iron Dome, and Israel refuses to share it with us).
That article has nothing to do with ‘funding’ Israel. You made the statement that Britain funds Israel. And that’s a load of shite. As for responding to the rest of your post, I have better things to do than post lengthy responses to Hamas ass kissers
What spoils? There was very little worthwhile in Gaza to begin with, and once Israel is done rooting out Hamas and (I would expect) Hamas’ allies (like the dudes that hit the hospital with a failed rocket), there’s going to be even less left...
‘spoils of war’ - that’s an idiomatic phrase not meant literally necessarily - although i saw a photo of Tsahal soldiers on the beach next to the Mediterranean - an area which real estate developers would ‘kill’ for so...looked awfully beautiful. also acc to Jerusalem Post soldiers were able to pray in the 6th CE synagogue in Gaza for the first time since 2005 or so. so...
