Was Crowder set up or is the department lying?
“I don’t know at this time,” a spokeswoman told the Daily Caller via phone call in response to whether they could confirm the authenticity of the pages. A spokesperson later told the Caller they had no update on the information as the department is still looking into the matter.

Not necessarily either. It's 2023 so you have to parse any statement from a government official very carefully.
The statement that the images are not "crime scene photos" is probably true. A crime scene photo is likely to be defined as a photograph of the scene of the crime, or a victim, not a picture of some evidence taken elsewhere. The police probably have the manifesto, so they have not necessarily photographed it, and if they did, they probably took the photographs back at headquarters, so the images are not "crime scene photos".
A half decent journalist would have asked "but do those images look like they are pictures of the shooter's manifesto?"
Audrey Hale does not appear to be a black woman.
We need to ban trans and artists from this ever happening again!
Why would the shooter's parents have seen the manifesto? I doubt their kid showed it to them. "Hey mom and dad I am planning a mass murder."
