Many if not most refused to fill Ivermectin and hydroxychloriquine scripts for doctors treating covid so I have no use for them.

Walgreens just took over the Pharmacy in Fresh (Brookshires fancy grocery store). This could get ugly fast.

How is the health of the cashier any less important?

I’m not seeing any good arguments for a strike. Is the individual pharmacist incapable of looking for a better paying job?

The nature of the pharmaceutical business has changed.

It’s true, now they just count pills.

Drugs are all pre-formulated and packaged.

It’s becoming a bureaucratic job.

It’s no longer a 5 year degree. Today it requires an undergrad degree plus 4 years to get your PharmD to be a pharmacist. It is possilbe to do it without a formal Bachelor’s degree if you have all the prerequisites and good scores on your PCAT exam. But most people getting their PharmD will have 8 years invested in college. You are a Doctor of Pharmacy when you graduate.

Those “highly educated clerks” can easily start their first job at +100k, aren’t on call 24/7 and don’t do a brutal hospital internship. The 4th year of pharmacy school is rotational internships, but nothing like what medical doctors go through. There are job openings for them almost everywhere. It’s a good field for women with children because it allows flexibility with hours in many cases.

Difference is clerk’s don’t know for a fact that most of their customers are sick. Pharmacists do. Especially this time of year. Everybody filling a thamiflu prescription.

They don’t feel they’re paid enough. That’s a good enough reason for a strike. Nobody needs your approval to decide their job needs better pay. Now whether or not they’re proven right we’ll see.

a brutal hospital internship

It's only "brutal" if you've chosen the wrong work.

It’s a five year degree, when you graduate you’re almost a doctor and the best job you can get is as a highly educated clerk

Not exactly. Whenever I have a question about a medication, I usually get a blank look from the doctor. I have learned that to really get a good answer, ask the pharmacist.

I have far more respect for them than most ego inflated doctors I know.

All good reasons to look for another line of work. Regarding “my approval”, I really don’t GAF what they do. And I certainly don’t GAF if they get fired for holding the advanced paying customer hostage.

Difference is clerk’s don’t know for a fact that most of their customers are sick. Pharmacists do. Especially this time of year. Everybody filling a thamiflu prescription.

Mostly it's the clerks who ring up the order. Most pharmacists I see are behind something like two counters filling the prescriptions the clerks take off the shelf and ring up.

And yes, I have seen and had them come up front to answer questions I had about something, but it's not the norm. Usually they are too busy.

Well clearly you GAF, otherwise you wouldn’t be on this thread. And no they’re not holding anybody hostage. Transferring scripts ain’t that hard.

Depends on how well staffed they are. Most of the time when I glance in that area at Walgreens there’s 1 person now. Used to be 2 or 3, and then things were the way you say. Now, not so much. Which is probably part of why they’re on strike. Double shifts and understaffed. That ain’t any good.

Once all pharmacies were formulating pharmacies. Not anymore. Now most just sell prepackaged pills.

Probably all part of the plan; to have the Government and the WEF to take charge of drug distribution (rationing).

I seriously don’t GAF about their career choices.

You seem indifferent to obstructing the delivery of prepaid goods & services.

I haven’t had much to do with pharmacies since my insurance started requiring my prescriptions to be delivered mail order...
