Russia this week declared that Israel has no right to self-defense and labeled its would-be ally an "occupying power" in a move that undermines years of work from Jerusalem to improve its relationship with Moscow.
"The only thing [the West] can muster is continued pronouncements about Israel’s supposed right to self-defense. Although, as an occupying power, it does not have that power," Russian Amb. Vasily Nebenzya said during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly session on the conflict. Nebenzya clarified that Israel can "fight terror," but urged the country to "fight terrorists and not civilians."
Nebenzya also condemned Western "hypocrisy" over Palestinian deaths and compared it to the outcry over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to The Moscow Times.
"In other situations, [Western nations] call for the respect of humanitarian law, set up inquiry commissions and impose sanctions on those who use force as a last resort to stop years of violence," Nebenzya said, but that on the "destruction in Gaza … they play mum."

There have been maps of Palestine going back to the 1700s.
Israel sent billions of dollars to Ukraine to kill Russian soldiers, it’s just political speech payback. We are edging towards World War III and very few of the top countries have clean hands. Of course, Russia’s invasion pushed the needle a lot closer to doomsday.
And yes, I support Israel’s right to completely destroy the Hamas terrorist pigs.
“There have been maps of Palestine going back to the 1700s.”
There have been maps of Patagonia in South America, as well; but it has never been a nation. There have been maps of the Sudetenland, yet it has never been a nation. There have been and still are maps of Appalachia, but it has never been a nation. Palestine was a territory, but never a nation.
Learn some history, kid.
Palestine was a land before the Jews, who stole it under the Balfour Declaration and ensuing Nakbar, and falsely claimed to be true Israelites were, Gramps on portable oxygen.
“Israel did, ‘06.”
Hamas was established in 1987. It was a rival of Fatah. In 2006 it won an “election” that gave it control, and it continues to this day to be at odds with Fatah (though they are united in hatred of Israel).
Nice try, kid. You need to wipe your chin; you are drooling on your bib.

It was explicitly created to destroy Yasser Arafat and the PLO because they were amassing too much power. Israel needed a check on the PLO. But alas, it backfired on Israel.

Now, c'mon old guy on morphine in Hospice care, you know those elections are about as credible as the elections today in the U.S. The majority of Gaza residents didn't even vote for Hamas.
Nice try, kid. You need to wipe your chin; you are drooling on your bib.
Well, at least I'll learn how to eat later. You already have one foot in the grave, so the drool coming off your chin isn't salvagable.

My God, you are ignorant. Have you never heard of ancient Israel, and the kingdoms of Judah and Samaria? Have you never heard of the ancient Canaanites and Hebrews (from whom the monotheistic “Jews” descended)? Moses and Exodus were ca. 1300 BCE; but the first mention of the Philistines (which is what ancient peoples called the people who lived in the region that later became known as Palestine) was from 1150 BCE.
Doesn't pertain to the Jews of today.
and the kingdoms of Judah and Samaria
That the Romans removed the Jews in the cumulative Bar Kokhba revolt (the 3rd of the Jewish-Roman Wars) in which Palestine was established.
"Rah-rah, rah-rah-rah-rah-rah, rah-rah-rah-rah!"
My college room-mate working on PhD in biology was Palestinian . He told me Israel took over land belonging to Palestinians. Thats all I know about history of that region.
“Doesn’t pertain to the Jews of today.”
Too funny! You said: “Palestine was a land before the Jews, who stole it under the Balfour Declaration and ensuing Nakbar, and falsely claimed to be true Israelites...”
Actually, the Jews, as a monotheistic people, long pre-dated Balfour; or, are you now saying that the “Jews of today” only refer to the Jews that were born after Balfour?
The Israelites comprised Semitic people in the lands of the eastern Mediterranean, particularly that area known as Canaan. Some of those people — especially in the area of Canaan known as Judea and Samaria, which were ancient Israelite kingdoms — adopted a monotheistic religion that became known as Judaism; this occurred about 2700 years ago. The term “Palestine” first appeared in the 5th century BCE, some 200 years AFTER the beginnings of Judaism. It referred to an area or region, not a kingdom or nation.
“That the Romans removed the Jews in the cumulative Bar Kokhba revolt (the 3rd of the Jewish-Roman Wars) in which Palestine was established.”
That was about 1900 years ago, in about 130 CE, some 600 years after the first mention of the term Palestine. So, the Romans were rather late to the game. In any event, Palestine was not “established” as anything other than a name for a specific region; it was not “established” as a kingdom or a country or a nation or any political entity at all.
“My college room-mate working on PhD in biology was Palestinian . He told me Israel took over land belonging to Palestinians. Thats all I know about history of that region.”
Israel existed long before anything called Palestine. And the Jews — practitioners of the monotheistic religion that came to be known as Judaism — lived in that region long before there was anything called Palestine. Most of those Jews were driven out and dispersed; but that region was their ancestral home.
The problem is that the moslem Arabs of that area (many of whom adopted the label “Palestinian”) refused to accept the presence of the Jews, and have on several occasions refused to have a state of their own alongside the Jews, but rather have held to the idea that the entire area of present-day Israel as well as Gaza and the West Bank must be Judenfrei; or, as their mantra goes, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free;” meaning, of course, free of Jews.
That too, but I was thinking Farther back, Genesis 12
Yup, God gave the land to Abraham. 👍
The Israelites would be wise to heed the rules of war according to Deuteronomy 20.
And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
Yep.
Hebrews 10:31
It is a fearful and terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God...
