TALLAHASSEE — Florida lawmakers will return to the Capitol on Monday for a brief special session to bolster state sanctions on Iran, a move aimed at helping Gov. Ron DeSantis with his floundering presidential campaign, his critics say.
Legislators also plan to tackle other issues, including more aid for Hurricane Idalia victims, extra money to harden homes against hurricanes and school voucher funding.
Not on the agenda Florida has the highest property insurance rates in the country, Driskell noted.
“They continue to go out of control with no immediate relief for homeowners,” Driskell said, “yet we doled out billions to the insurance industry in past sessions. To what end?”

And nothing to solve the insurance problem which is causing people to go without insurance on their homes and property because of up to 50% increases in premiums.
And the legislation desantis claims they already passed that was suppose to solve the problem, has done nothing.
It’s to declare him President of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Bootmakers head into a special session designed to help DeSantis
It’s a conservative-friendly agenda that most Freepers would probably support; and, if that helps DeSantis politically, that what it’s supposed to do.
As for the insurance cost increases, what is the state supposed to do? Use taxpayer funds to subsidize the insurance of Floridans choosing to live in hurricane alley? Force insurers to cross-subsidize those rates by charging Floridians in safe areas more?
There is no “safe” area in Florida pertaining to hurricanes.
debate me!
debate me! why won't you debate me? deeebaaate meeeeeee!
🤣
“There is no “safe” area in Florida pertaining to hurricanes.”
The closer you are to the coast, the more at risk you are to hurricane damage.
For example, a person living in, say Miami, would be more at risk for hurricane damage than someone living in Lake City, other things being equal.
Oh look. Another anti-RDS thread from the liars who tell us that DeSantis is irrelevant.
Poor you
Peak NeoCon is doing sanctions on Iran, while ignoring the homeowners insurance crisis in your own state.
you desanctimonious supporters own all the hate desantis is getting, from the ways desantis supporters constantly made lies, mis-representations and attacks against Trump and his supporters here...
And the gloating way some of you supporters were claiming, ‘just wait till desanctus got in the race, then support for Trump would completely collapse as they moved to the true conservative’....
He is going with his strengths.
Does it make you feel good, like pounding your chest, attacking a conservative Governor who has done great things for his state, and is is a fine, honest man when Trump is 48 points ahead? You are poor winners, bulllies and have no grace.
I’m attacking desantis, who, again
is a proven liar,
has jerked people, and the media, around multiple times, for instance with his “i’m not a canddate” b.s.
is corrupt and misappropriates money - i.e. uses taxpayer money for his p.r., as well as has laundered $83 million in state campaign funds to his federal campaign
and (was primarily, now secondary to haley) the chosen swamp GOPe rino uniparty candidate for president
But none of that matters to the desantis supporters/nevertrumpers here...
“is corrupt and misappropriates money “
BS Your are desperate to attack a guy who is 48 points behind Trump. Please provide any evidence rather than emotional tripe.
