This is the first 60 Minutes piece I've ever linked to. It's an analysis of the parallels between the Russian invasion of Georgia and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It also speaks to the dangers of not standing up to imperialist powers like Russia when the cost of doing so is low.

Had the West stood up to Russia in 2008 when they attacked Georgia we'd not be spending billions now trying to defeat them in Ukraine and to dissuade them from any further aggressions...like towards Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania.

This is also an object lesson that any country with a significant population of Russians should take every measure to either assimilate them or force them out. These Russian populations are an existential threat to any country in close proximity to Russia.

It is also clear that Russia is a danger to many more countries than just Ukraine.

Most of all USA is more broke (based on debt/GDP) than all major countries in the world. It is madness to borrow more and more to protect borders of foreign countries when our country has unprotected borders.

I kinda like this BBC report on the Corrupt and Convicted Criminal Ex-President of Georgia who's Criminal Actions against defenseless Ethnic Russian Civilians precipitated the Georgian Crisis.

It draws nice parallels between this Convicted Criminal Fugitive and Ukraine's Zelensky in their method of operation, and the similarity of Georgians and Ukrainians who will forgive any crime against powerless Russian civilians.
