Marzouk also said that protecting Gazan civilians is the responsibility of the United Nations and Israel.
Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk said that the tunnels built by Hamas are meant to protect and hold terrorists, and not civilians, in an interview that was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
"We have built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves from being targeted and killed," he claimed. "These tunnels are meant to protect us from airplanes. We are fighting inside the tunnels."
Marzouk's statements were in response to questions about why Hamas constructed over 500 kilometers of tunnels, according to the interviewer, and have not invested that effort into constructing bomb shelters.
"Everybody knows that 75% of the people in the Gaza Strip are refugees, and it is the responsibility of the United Nations to protect them," he continued.
"According to the Geneva Conventions, it is the responsibility of the occupation to provide them with all the services as long as they are under occupation."
Tunnels constructed were also under hospitals, terrorists say Marzouk's statements come a few days after two Hamas terrorists under interrogation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the IDF admitted that Hamas terrorists have hidden under hospitals in Gaza, most notably Al-Shifa hospital, where their tunnels and operation rooms are also located, according to the IDF.
The two terrorists were captured on October 7 after the massacre.
The world is advised that it is the responsibility of the world and UN to care for all the needs of refugee citizens of Gaza. Headquarters of Hamas built under hospitals is for the safety of the Hamas leaders

That was nice of them to share info, wonder what ‘encouraged’ them to talk?
That thug has no idea what self-government means and is proving that the vaunted “two state solution” is complete foolishness.
Hamas is the elected government of Gaza. Everywhere else in the world, that means they are responsible for the welfare of their voters. He admits Hamas is dedicated solely to terrorism, thuggery and corruption.
And he expects the UN to take care of the people in Gaza? He has been sucking on the UN welfare teat for far too long. That statement coming from a terrorist killer is reason enough for the UN to cut off all aid to Gaza and for the US and other civilized nations to pull out of the UN if they don’t cut off aid to Gaza.
Hamas has now proven they are totally unfit to be considered as a government of any kind.
Hopefully not for long.
“Tunnel” rhymes with “funnel”. In one sense, like tora-bora (”cave” rhymes with “grave”), don’t the tunnels represent a target-rich environment?
I find the “Great Stuff” expanding filler foam to be a legit answer to the tunnel problem. Trap ‘em and suffocate ‘em like the rats they are.
Maybe the U.N. could evacuate patients to Israeli hospitals, then Israel can unleash fire and brimstone on the tunnels and hospital where the murderous bastards are hiding.
“We have built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves from being targeted and killed,” he claimed. “These tunnels are meant to protect us from airplanes. We are fighting inside the tunnels.”
After this is over... There won’t be one tunnel left in GAZA... They will all be destroyed and everybody in them including Mousa Abu Marzouk will be dead. God Willing...
So it has been written, so it shall be done.
Here’s the thing about underground tunnels...they are easily flooded by anything heavier than air. Water, gases...
napalm
You know how the left is has proposed to store CO2 to save the environment? I think I just found a really good place to store some of it.
That would be good. 👍
