They went hunting for fossil fuels. What they found could help save the world

White hydrogen – also referred to as “natural,” “gold” or “geologic” hydrogen – is naturally produced or present in the Earth’s crust and has become something of a climate holy grail.

Hydrogen produces only water when burned, making it very attractive as a potential clean energy source for industries like aviation, shipping and steel-making that need so much energy it’s almost impossible to meet through renewables such as solar and wind.

I thought water vapor is a green house gas, though I suppose this would only b a drop in the bucket compared to th hydrologic cycle

“Holy grail,” “save the world” ... it couldn’t be more obvious that The Climate is a religion, not anything to do with science or technology.

That said, finding more sources of hydrogen isn’t bad.

Gasp, after years of pounding on CNN’s door, Captain Obvious has finally found a slight crack and brought a smidgeon of actual thought to the science and logic challenged ‘journalists” infesting our laughable media.

We could use a little more water “pollution” here in the high desert!

From Wiki:

hydrogen is not as energy-dense as other fuels, meaning that you need a whole lot of it to do a little bit of work. Couple that with the inherent inefficiency of a piston engine (at best, you’re only turning about 30 percent of the fuel’s energy into forward motion), and you’ve got a recipe for disappointment.

Also, When you combust hydrogen, you get other emissions besides water vapor. Mainly, you get NOx, the toxic emission at the heart of the Volkswagen diesel emissions cheating scandal. If you’re looking for a clean alternative to gasoline, hydrogen’s NOx emissions take it out of the running.

Quite true. There are other uses, besides fuel, for hydrogen, though. I remember when there was a shortage, and you couldn’t inflate party balloons.

Natural gas , oil and coal are also naturally produced in the earths crust. But the libs fail to recognize that. How long will it be that the libs stop calling natural gas “natural”?

You left out the huge hydrogen storage & transportation problems.

——Hydrogen produces only water when burned,——

Except, when burned in a chlorine atmosphere produces hydrogen cloride or hydrochloric acid

What makes anyone think that the environmental nuts would approve this? They’re squawking about natural gas and there’s plenty of that.
Nothing short of mass world suicide tomorrow would satisfy them.

Party balloons use helium. Hydrogen party balloons could be a hilarious thing, but also lead to likely tragic party fires.

The world doesn’t need help to be saved. The earth will be around for a guaranteed 1007 more years at a minmum- and likely much longer no matter what man does or uses for fuels
