Apple’s smart watch could be banned from being imported into the United States after the federal government ruled that it violated a company’s patent, according to a report.
Certain models of the Apple Watch are in violation of a patent that was issued to Masimo, a medical tech firm that created a sensory device that measures blood oxygen levels.
The US International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Masimo on Thursday and determined that Apple was indeed in violation of a patent, according to The Wall Street Journal.
President Joe Biden’s administration will have 60 days to decide whether to veto the import ban based on policy concerns before it goes into effect. Presidents have rarely vetoed bans in the past.

A bunch of my coworkers were sitting around the dinner table talking about a suicide call they had just run. As the discussion wound down one said started talking about almost getting in a wreck by saying “I almost committed suicide when a car” at which time his watch started suggesting he immediately call a suicide prevention line. The phone/watch was not in use at the time.
My wife has the Apple watch (3/4/5/6) with the phone.
All this and comments reminds me to check into dinesh’s new film. I suspect it will only confirm our conspiracy “theories”.
...maybe even add more.
My daughter bought me an Apple Watch for my birthday one year, since I already had an iPhone and an iPad. I have the version 3, I think. It’s useful for my walks, since I always have my phone with me, it’s almost redundant to have it. The newer ones have more features, but of course they’re much more expensive, as well.
My favorite watch is my other one, my Citizen Ecodrive, going on 20 years.
Congratulations on being a champion bicycle racer, that’s quite an accomplishment!
The new Apple phones are crap too...
I have a model 9 the blood oxygen check works great and automatically
They’ll just pay the owner.
I have one that I use when I don’t want to carry a phone around. It can make calls and take and send messages, so I can leave the phone at home.
The real downside is that battery lives never improved very much and those tiny batteries don’t last long at all. They advertise 2 days or whatever, but after a year you’re lucky to get 8 hours, then downhill quick. I had hope smart watches, but without some major battery advance they’re doomed.
They are really good for workout tracking though.
Recent Apple upgrade makes checking battery level a hassle.
My battery level displays 24-7 on the face. No problem whatsoever
Version 10.1
Yep no one will buy those things heck anyone can order one and get it in 3 or 4 weeks.
“Not sure whether it matters.”
Siri is real handy when you want to make a phone call while driving. “Hey, Siri. Call Bob Smith”
“Which number would you like to call? iPhone or Landline?”
“Call iPhone”
My iWatch correctly asked me if “Are you in an accident?” when a car hit me earlier this week. I was impressed. I pressed the “I’m OK” button because I could tell it was like a bad football tackle with no broken bones and painful but not serious.
My watch is constantly vibrating notifications and messages. I tend to ignore them. After a while, I have a long list of things to review on the watch. Too much information.
