The man suspected in Wednesday's massacre that killed 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, has been found dead, sources told the NBC10 Boston Investigators Friday night.
Robert Card was the subject of a dayslong manhunt that followed mass shootings at the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley and Schemengees Bar and Grille.
The update comes after days of angst as an armed and dangerous man was unaccounted for after 18 people were killed and 13 injured.

Did I miss the meme of Bones McCoy?
I know this is a rhetorical question but why don’t people like him just skip the part where they kill a lot of people and just off themselves in the beginning? It would eliminate a lot of negatives.
What would be the motivation to kill deaf people??
It would be nice, but he couldn’t fill his rage if he did that.
We will never hear about the high doses of meds (SSRI + others) that he was probably taking. Was he previously deployed and suffered head damage ? Just curious since people rarely go this crazy this fast. No excuse for him murdering anyone yet if he was receiving care, odd that after the care he went downhill so quickly.

Many of the victims were members of a deaf corn-hole club, so the ASL person was pretty vital, I’m sure many of their deaf friends were watching.

Why go after deaf people?
Thanks for your professional insight!
Actually we should all want them to get help. Probably half the homeless have mental problems and no where to get the help they desperately need. I don’t think people need to be locked up forever but if this man had received adequate help he and 18 other people might be alive today.
Every single mass shooting has the word “he/she was on our radar”. Hearing voices is one thing, hearing voices that tell you to shoot up an army base is quite another. I know you are a professional, but how can anyone know if a medication is right or a dosage is right in a few weeks.
As to the stigma or not seeking help, this isn’t the 1970s. Maybe we should educate people that mental illness is an illness, not a defect.
It seems to be the norm
That sounds like an average Russia/Ukraine thread.
/injecting humor into a heavy story
Motive?
Why does that matter?
Seriously? Even if he left a note (or manuscript).
Do you think anyone will say, “Oh! Now we understand. And I would have done all that shooting too.”?

Point well made. What difference would it make to all the victims of this insane man, all the dead and wounded and all their families and loved ones? None whatsoever.
About the motivation to kill deaf people at the bowling alley, possibly it was more that he had targeted the bowling alley and they happened to be there.
On the subject of hearing voices, do schizophrenics hear them as the voices of other persons or just “voices” because I believe it’s fairly common for non-schizophrenic people to pick up some sort of suggestive speech from inside their own minds, as in a person saying to themselves “don’t do it.” In my own case, I sometimes internally verbalize all sorts of rather violent statements that I don’t feel any compulsion to act on, and it makes me wonder if the spiritual universe is perhaps full of these suggestive comments, with schizophrenics acting differently in that they take the random comments to be instructions for them personally.
I’d be interested in knowing if any other sane readers get these sensations. I don’t call them voices because I don’t hear the words spoken, it’s more like Tourette’s syndrome where you involuntarily swear. I don’t do that but I do just randomly start telling myself odd things. I also have the senssation that these are not messages to me or for me, but just being intercepted by my brain. Is this common? I think it could be, because it seems to form the basis for a certain genre of humor that would not occur to comics if they weren’t also having that experience.
“...how it used to be serial killers that we always had popping up, but now it’s mass shooters. We went from one to the other. Weird.”
I had thought of that awhile ago. Also add in airplane high- jackings into the cycle and I’m sure there are more. Kidnappings perhaps?
I think a mix of social contagion, media fixations, political agendas, etc. all play a role. While we don’t seem to have many plane high-jackings anymore, I’m positive that there are just as many (probably more) serial killers out there but they aren’t getting any press.
Mostly adult males? I would suggest perhaps his military background, which I imagine would emphasize adult males as a typical threat and a target.
Totally agreed with you. It was a compliment.
You can skynet all you want. I’m not playing.
Good, now I won’t have to hear more speculation on where he is and what he’s doing.
Dear God what a nightmare for you and your wife. It’s a risky business being a patient - lawyers and drugs run healthcare.
May your wife rest in peace.
Too bad he just didn’t kill himself first instead of destroying innocent lives.....
Maybe they were the surgically implanted type. Friend of mine has an implanted one, looks like he was rescued from a Borg cube ship minutes after they started the assimilation process.
