“When no one answers, one officer gains access through the digital security lock.”
So, the lesson here is dont have a digital security lock on your house or gun safe.
These companies give up these codes of their customers that easily?
Probably in the contract with the security company. You agree for the security company to call the police when an intrusion occurs. Makes sense they would also be able to search the house with the 911 call as probable cause.
And it's cheaper than having your front door smashed to smithereens.
Doesn’t say they used the code. Digital locks still operate a deadbolt or such…
““When no one answers, one officer gains access through the digital security lock.””
That sentence jumped out at me as well.
There are some brands of lock that, due to software or firmware design decisions, can be defeated by entering a long set of numbers as the system only scans four digits worth of input at a time without end. The Ford door mounted keypad entry systems available as an optional extra on their cars has the same flaw. The number sequences have been published and are freely available.
They'll just kick down your door or cut open your safe.
And in the end, you'll be buying a new door and a new safe out of your own pocket.
Yep, and make sure to leave packages on the porch so they know your home.
