The man suspected of fatally shooting more than a dozen people in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night is still at large, police said Thursday, as his family urged him to turn himself in.
Law enforcement officials are looking for Robert Card, 40, whom they said is considered armed and dangerous.
Card, a firearms instructor and a longtime Army reservist, began to hear voices that were saying “horrible” things about him about a couple of months ago when he was fitted for high-powered hearing aids, according to Katie Card, who is married to his brother.
She said his mental health had deteriorated quickly.
“He was picking up voices that he had never heard,” she told NBC News. “His mind was twisting them around. He was humiliated by the things that he thought were being said.”

Reportedly his mental health issues were so severe during training at West Point that the military had him taken by local police to a hospital there.
He may be the first mass shooter in a while who was also a government employee.
One of these is about Lucille Ball getting radio stations....
Drop them off at any CIA office and they will tune them up for you. Like they did Card's.
Probably
Thanks. They lost us as a colony but are catching up on other things to shame us.
“Attacks a bowling alley.”
Does Maine have a three strikes law?
I saw that!
Then you’ll have to feed him for life////
“ I’ve said for a long time that I don’t want hearing aids because then I could hear what people were saying about me. ”
Read up on hearing loss and cognitive decline.
Get the hearing aids.
Never mind hearing aids. What antidepressants was he on?
I can see victims family lawyers salivating .... incompetent Army authorities combined with an incompetent psychiatric medical facility and they just turned him loose. Sort of remember an Air Force screw up a couple of years ago.
Cognitive decline like not being able to spot a joke? I can still hear the proverbial pin drop, and if my hearing does get bad enough, of course I’ll get hearing aids. Appreciate the concern, though.
Most likely dead, as you said.
“ I can still hear the proverbial pin drop”
Then you are good.
Many of us have hearing loss, and untreated it will do bad things for your brain.
So...people around him knew he was mentally unstable...and those people knew he had access to firearms...and nobody thought to contact authorities about it?
Suicide note was found
From a 10/29“ AP report, with Merry being the relevant county sheriff. His claim here is outright unbelievable:
“We couldn’t locate him,” Merry said, adding that he couldn’t recall if there was any follow-up because “I don’t have any reports in front of me.”
