Chinese state media continued to gush over visiting California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, hailing the Democrat’s warm meeting with dictator Xi Jinping as a triumph of “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.”
Newsom said that under his leadership, California is ready to become “China’s long-term, stable, and strong partner.”
People in Beijing as a milestone in improving U.S.-China relations, a sentiment Newsom reportedly reciprocated:
Newsom said that no other bilateral relationship is more important than the one between the US and China, and the US-China relationship is vital to the future of the US and bears on the well-being of its people.
Newsom said he is willing to push California to strengthen exchanges with China and seek closer cooperation in fields such as climate change and new energy. California is willing to be China’s long-term, stable and strong partner, he added.
…
As the first US governor to visit China in more than four years, Newsom expressed his high appreciation for relations with China and recalled the first sister cities established between China and the US in 1980: Shanghai and San Francisco. He hopes to contribute to the resumption of exchanges and cooperation between China and the US, CGTN reported on Wednesday.
CGTN is the China Global Television Network, another Communist state-run media operation.

Treason and a half
CHINAFORNIA here we come!
I thought that China 🇨🇳 and California were already partners in crime.
Who is John Galt?........
“Junior partner, Comrade Newsom. “
Regardless of the wisdom of any of that, saying that is politically stupid to the point that I have to wonder what the angle might be. It might be as simple as Newsome trying to show some foreign policy chops.
Look at the situation with CA’s public pension funds.
That explains the kowtowing.
Violation U.S. Constitution Section 10. No state shall enter into an agreement with Foreign power
Can we just give California (and its mess of debt) to China? Heck, China owns most of it anyways including the politicians such as Newsome. Maybe split California in two so the good people in the East (more like Texans than LA or SF people) can stay in the US, but the rotting coastal cities become China’s problem? (OK, maybe we’d want to keep San Diego.)
Not serious here, just venting a little.
More likely it will be Xi’s long term, stable address.
For those who don’t carry the Constitution in their heads (mainly directed at lurkers — have a hunch most FReepers do):
Article I, Section 10, limits the power of the states. States may not enter into a treaty with a foreign nation; that power is given to the president, with the advice and consent of two-thirds of the Senate present. States cannot make their own money, nor can they grant any title of nobility.
I wonder what kind of kickback he is getting?
China might required Free Republic to shut down and Jim and Chris Robinson be jailed! Ya just never know!
Maybe he thinks this takes California off Chinese ICBM targeting.
Didn’t he pay them $1 billion for equipment during the pandemic, and it was never received? No one in the media is curious?
“Newsom said that under his leadership, California is ready to become “China’s long-term, stable, and strong partner.” “
The one political promise he will keep.
Reinforcement that the people’s republik of kalifornia has gone full commie.
Newsom is even more stupid than I thought.
Totalitarians gotta stick together
