House Speaker Mike Johnson is much less wealthy than other members of Congress.
He doesn't trade any stocks and has a home mortgage valued between $250,000 and $500,000.
He's made more than $120,000 since 2018 teaching online classes at Liberty University.
The new speaker of the House is not as wealthy as most of his colleagues.
That's perhaps the biggest insight one can draw from eight years of financial disclosures filed by Rep. Mike Johnson since 2016, when he first ran to represent Louisiana's 4th congressional district.

Wouldn’t call him POOR.
I never grossed more than $63,000 a year in my entire life & I OWN all my property & vehicles.
Being in serious debt isn’t a sign of greatness.
Thay all have to fill out financial disclosure papers. You can look up whomever you please.
Pelosi has made millions off insider trading.
Watch the LAAP-dog media spin this to suggest that Speaker Johnson is a ripe target for bribery schemes by powerful lobbyists and foreign agents who try to shove cash at him for favors, preying on his meager earnings and high mortgage debt.

I doubt it. Source?
WOW, absolutely amazing.
But not so much with 20+ RINO's who will not allow him to score points.
Gaetz is feeling his oats. I predict he will repeat himself taking out the new speaker within two months. He knows the fundraising potential now and he is in a safe district.
OK, I checked. Big Media “Fact Checkers” all say it’s false.
That’s silly.
Yeah, I’m really likin’ this guy.
It looks like it. I would guess as a more junior member not on appropriations committees he hasn't been bribed yet and hasn't stepped on anyone's toes and doesn't run his mouth off, which can just antagonize without accomplishing anything.
We'll see when the next omnibus pork barrel spending plan comes up, the release of the J6 tapes, etc.
I very much doubt that. Gaetz saw a job needed to be done and did it. Ragging on him all the time is uncalled for.
They’d investigate a Republican if he got and extra piece of gum from a gum ball machine.
“Being ‘poor’ is not a sign of honesty. Honesty is a sign of honesty.”
In Washington, DC, I disagree... being poor is a sign of at least relative honesty (unless he he’s really good at immediately spending all of the ill-gotten gains).
He’s not a Washington boy...he’s a Louisiana boy.
Exactly. Since those silly financial disclosure forms in Congress are so broad, his house at 250K to 500K can be considered “overvalued” and a crazy judge will indict him.
Relevant because if the Swamp sucks him in he will be a mega millionaire in a few years.
It usually goes unnoticed and assumed they had already accumulated that wealth before they were elected.
“Lawfare against conservative Republicans is now part of the landscape until there are severe consequences for the Demon Rats.”
So in other words — a permanent feature of the landscape
“He’s not a Washington boy...he’s a Louisiana boy.”
...and Biden’s a Scranton boy.
