Ron DeSantis Attacks Donald Trump: He ‘Lost the Zip on His Fastball, Has a Sense of Entitlement’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) attacked Republican primary frontrunner Donald Trump in a clip shared from the campaign trail on social media, asserting that the former president has a “sense of entitlement” and accusing him of being unable to “get off that teleprompter.”

“He is wedded to the teleprompter. He can’t get off that teleprompter. Anytime he does, he says things like, ‘Don’t vote.’ He’s telling people not to vote,” DeSantis began, adding that Trump lost the popular vote to twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, arguing that “you don’t have all the votes you need.”

DeSantis continued:

And so I think that it’s just shown [that] this is a different Donald Trump than 2015 and ’16. [He] lost the zip on his fastball, has a sense of entitlement, all this stuff, doesn’t think he has to go through and earn it like other candidates, and that’s just not going to fly in Iowa [and] New Hampshire.

He did not mention Trump’s consistently tremendous leads in both New Hampshire and Iowa throughout the GOP primary.

Tuesday’s RealClearPolitics (RCP) average of polls, for example, showed Trump up by an average of 33 points in Iowa and 30.8 points in New Hampshire. Notably, DeSantis slipped to third place in the Granite State in RCP’s averages.

“And that’s why, you know, how this came to be with Iowa and New Hampshire…I’m glad that it works this way because I do think you got to earn it,” DeSantis, who is currently blitzing the Hawkeye State by visiting every county, continued.

DeSantis also emphasized the need to have a candidate who can win the general election, contending that there are “too many people that just are not going to vote for Trump at this point” while pointing to the impact of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent bid.

Ronnie shows his lack of intelligence. First...There is NO Federal popular vote. It does not exist, does not count. You can't make up rules to contests that doesn't exist. This is a Republic where when we vote for President we have 50 states each with it's own popular vote election for who we want to be President. Hence the Presidential Election is a contest to see who can win the most popular vote elections out of 50 elections. In 2016, Hillary got her a** handed to her. Trump won popular vote in 34 states where Hillary only scored 16. LOSER Hillary lost the 2016 title weight fight with a pathetic record of 16 and 34!

Funny, DeJeb lost me for good at the release of the Durham Report and his announcement to run against Trump soon after its release..

That showed a lot of swamp..

So if you’re correct, a guy who many thought had a legitimate shot at the presidency in 2028 threw it all away to run as a Trump Troll in 2024?

Dodged a 2028 disaster with Ronnie as the nominee for sure.

Ron is playing up his college baseball player cred, but he does have a point. Part of the point of all the indictments and prosecutions — apart from costing Trump time and money and possibly putting him in prison — may have been to come at him from so many directions that he doesn’t know how to respond.

Trump built a multi-billion dollar global real estate brand through hard work and a great eye for business opportunities and Ronald De Santis relies on Bush donors to stay afloat in an already doomed campaign.

Jeb DeSantis lost me when he correctly was against a blank check to launder through Ukraine, then days later did a 180 because his donors enrich themselves via wars and military conflicts. Same with
Nimarata Nikki Randhawa, who has never met bloodshed overseas she won’t support unless it means her own family members, of course.

Globalist harridan Nimrata Hinduswarthy would be a Hussain Obama-level disaster as executive of this God-fearing nation founded on JUDEO-CHRISTIAN principles.

It’s a blessing to America that Nimrata doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of occupying the Oval Office.

Sounds like playful political banter to me. One says rival is falling like a dead bird, the other says lost zip on his fastball.

DeSantis wants Trump to enter the debate. What’s wrong with that?

BTW, Trump had a HORRIBLE first debate with Biden and partisan moderator Chris Wallace in 2020. Wouldn’t it be good for him to sharpen up his skills in that arena?

Why are the staunchest Trump supporters against (afraid of?) there being an actual contest? He has a 40 something or “57%” lead. What does he have to lose?

I know one thing. I will be voting for the Republican in the general election and the betting odds right now that is Trump, so don’t trash me back too badly. )

DeSantis could instantly become the front-runner for 2028 simply by dropping out and enthusiastically endorsing Trump. That he does not do this and instead chirps Trump, suggests to me that he is some combination of a) stupid; b) delusional; and/or c) somebody’s puppet. He isn’t going to get the nomination and, even if he did, would not be able to win the general so something beyonda rational desire to win must be causing him to stay in the race. What is it?

Yes, but it won’t matter. Urging people to vote against Trump will be like urging the sun to rise tomorrow morning. He’s losing either way, so we might a well put an exclamation point on it. It’s just a matter of where besides the candidate his apologists will place the blame this time around.

Frump is urging people to exit the race before even a single vote has been cast. He should quit the race and worry about keeping himself out of prison.

If Trump wins resounding victories in those early states, this will be all but over. I think DeSantis, Haley and the rest, take the position, that nobody has actually voted yet, so they stay in because they think they can make inroads against Trump.

Trump will need to win well north of 50% to end the race. If he can't crack 50% then there will be dropouts and increasing numbers for those remaining. It could still get interesting. Plus, Trump is his own worst enemy and there are still just less than 3 months for him to self destruct.

Yes

Just to clarify, you will not vote for Trump and you will also urge others to not vote for him?

I can’t see how criticizing Trump helps DeSantis one bit.

Trump’s huge and loyal base is well accustomed to hearing heavy criticism of Trump by enemies of MAGA, and when DeSantis chimes in with his own criticisms, it’s hard not to see him as an enemy too.

DeSantis needs to learn how to read a room and show some respect if he hopes to win Trump supporters over to his side.
