Convention of states, and among other critically needed reforms, mandatory lifetime term limits. Politics corrupts everyone eventually.

And cap congressional earnings to their congressional salaries and nothing beyond. Also apply it to their families.

People go to DC with modest means and leave multi-millionaires.

They’re holding on to the slimmest of power despite co-opting 90% of industry, institution, billionaires, wealthiest men ever.

And maybe this is going to be over sooner and not later.

This is for "X".

See? Another person who sees the connection between wealthy powerful men, big business and the liberals.

Earlier today I just watched a video about Smedley Butler. Apparently he was aware of this problem back during World War I. I was meaning to ask you if you had ever heard of him?

Of all the people I argue with about the civil war, you seem the most rational and the most evidence oriented, so I kinda wanted to get your take on what Smedley Butler thought about our too cozy relationship between business and government?

Was really struck today about the dearth of leadership all around the world. I’ve been around awhile and see no humility, little responsiveness to the wants and needs of citizens, a lust for money and power, arrogance, greed, on and on. Who suffers? The little guy dies in their wars, suffers from their financial profligacy, struggles under the burdens of their yoke to bridle us for their self-aggrandizement and profit. Biden is at the top of the pyramid but many of our “republican” leaders are part of the foundation. It’s past time to throw them off and start afresh before they destroy everything we cherish.

<<<< Congratulations on the celebrating destruction with no plan, whatsoever.

None >>>>

I am so sick of hearing that. You guys sound like a 13 year old girl PMSi g. There was a plan. The plan was to get rid of McCarthy. Plan accomplished. Now they have to find someone who actually keeps his word to the American people. We were promised regular order. That means 12 appropriation bills presented before the end of the government year. Only 7 were complete and McCarthy sent everyone home for weeks. He should have required all bills be ready before 9/30. He deserved to be removed.

It’s possible that there was some truth in what Butler was saying, but I couldn’t say how much. It’s also possible that he was taken in by a conman who claimed to have connections with millionaires that didn’t really exist.

Most of the people who talk about the plot now conjure up some great fascist danger. I suspect it it could just have been a few cranky old men and intriguers with some goofball daydreams rather than a serious threat to the Republic.

The Vice-Chairman of the committee that heard Butler’s testimony was later revealed to be a Soviet agent (probably more for the money than out of ideological conviction, though).

There was definitely an interest on the left in building the story up to be a major indictment of capitalism and the millionaire class.

Interestingly, some of the closed door testimony has never been made public — or presumably, found. Make of that what you will.

It was not MAGA, it was 208 Democrats who knew the chaos to be created would add to their power in the coming election. Congratulations on the celebrating destruction with no plan, whatsoever.

If you don't know the score yet you had better get educated. The Democrat and Republican parties are two sides of the same coin. They ARE the deep state...they both are corrupt. It doesn't matter if Democrats or RINO Republicans are in "power"...they have the same goals...keep you voting for them so they can continue to loot the treasury and sell out America.

So not no plan whatsoever. Only something less than half of a plan.

When I was younger, I used to pooh pooh all the liberal talk about "corporations" and "fascism." I thought they were obsessed with the threat and were overexaggerating what they perceived as a threat. I felt that neither corporations nor the government were inherently corrupt or just putting profit ahead of the interests of people.

And now I think they may have been on to something. I keep seeing evidence of corporate/government collusion, and lately it has been about government involvement in twitter, facebook, google, and so forth.

And then you've got the examples of companies like Solyndra, and other "green" energy boondoggles.

Joe Biden has 20 million? Where did he get it? Why would anyone pay anything for that useless son of his, let alone millions? And buying his paintings for 100rs of thousands of dollars?

Money laundering is the only thing that makes sense.

So Butler and Eisenhower were more or less singing from the same hymnal, and now i'm beginning to see what they were talking about.

I see other people mentioning the DC corruption cartel. I guess old Smedley was onto something.

Yes, you can see how they would try to exploit that. They were always trying to raise awareness of the evils of capitalism. The "Monopoly" game was invented by a couple of communists with the intent to show people how evil capitalists were. Amusingly enough, people loved the game and didn't get the larger message they were trying to sell.

Interestingly, some of the closed door testimony has never been made public — or presumably, found. Make of that what you will.

Probably inflammatory and/or implicating powerful men or businesses. A lot of major US companies were doing business with the Nazis back in the 1930s. Probably wouldn't want any of that to get out if it could be helped.

A coup? Probably talk, but I very greatly doubt anyone seriously thought of doing it. Roosevelt was a very hated man by a lot of businessmen of that era.

The du Ponts hated FDR, but FDR Jr. married a du Pont.

That’s how America is. Even the worst of enemies find ways to get along.

The marriage didn’t last.

That’s also how America is.

“controlled opposition Laura Loomer”

Why do you say that? I don’t know much about her, but from what I’ve seen she seemed OK. She’s a little bombastic, I know.

The plan was successful, McCarthy is gone and no other speaker will be stupid enough to break a promise to us. The rest of the plan is to elect a new speaker that is being played out now. Do you think Gaetz should have decided who the speaker should be or is congress part of America where those who vote get to decide. Like I said, that’s being played out now.

No need to panic, nothing is desperate. The CR doesn’t expire for a couple of weeks, lots of time. We may end up with a house that answers to the people instead of the lobbyists

Better than term limits is to just take the money and parties out of politics. Especially House races. It’s all local. They don’t need national money or national parties. Take their party affiliations off the ballots. You don’t see which Moose Lodge they belong to on the ballot why print what party they belong to? Cap the max spend for a House Race at say $50k. You can have some tanks of gas, some web pages, as many free volunteers as you want, do local radio interviews, and some public speaking events, and public debates.

It shouldn’t take $10 million to get a job that pays $136,000 a year.

I'm waiting for the argument from our side that the Senate would just reject it anyway, so why bother?

To which I would argue that it then becomes McConnell's problem. Let's put the same pressure on him to get it passed. Pressure Manchin in an election year, the same with Sinema. They talk about House Republicans in Biden districts, how about Democrat Senators from Republican states?

I want the LAAP-dog media to explain why jumping from man-made crisis to man-made crisis started by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi is better than the regular order of separate budget bills.
