When he was in the Minnesota Legislature, he was often a blowhard and voted pretty conservatively. He ran for Governor and his campaign was less than inspiring. had a hard time raising money. That hurt him in the end when the race got close.
He ended up with a seat in Congress as a consolation prize of sorts when Michelle Bachman decided to retire. his district is solid GOP and he’ll hold it as long as he wants to.
He’s not RINO material - but he’s not a real true conservative either. Sadly enough, he may be just the person we need to be Speaker.

There may be a few in the Republican caucus that would be worse than Emmer, but you would have to look long and hard to locate them.

Some House Republicans may vote No, but Emmer will get just enough House Democrats to vote him in.
If Emmer goes down, and nothing would make me happier, I think that this will open the door for someone NOT from the House Republican caucus and not a currently seated member. Think someone like Lee Zelden.

No Speaker is better than Emmer as Speaker. With no Speaker there can be no deals with the Dems to waste money. I don’t trust Emmer to investigate the Bidens or the 2020 Big Steal. Gaetz and company should vote “no” and force the Dems to help elect a RINO exposing the Uniparty in the DC Swamp.
