FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A new poll shows Gov. Andy Beshear leading in the race for governor against Attorney General Daniel Cameron, a little more than a month before election day.

A new Emerson College Polling/FOX 56 News poll asked 450 registered voters questions between Oct. 1 and 3 about the upcoming election. Emerson College found Beshear leading with 49% support in the upcoming November gubernatorial election, while a third of voters (33%) plan to support Republican Cameron.

“Governor Beshear not only holds the majority of Democratic voters’ support at 85%, but also 44% of independent voters’ support and 28% of Republican voters’ support,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. “Cameron has a weaker base of support within his own party with 53%, and trails Beshear among independent voters with 25%.”

According to the poll, 5% of people plan to vote for someone else, while 13% are undecided.

Beshear has previously held high approval ratings. In August, Morning Consult Pro found him to be the fifth most-liked governor in the U.S. with an approval rating of 64%, with him having a higher approval rating among Republicans than any other Democrat governor...

“While Biden is an unpopular figure among Kentucky voters, Beshear has been able to separate himself from the president: he holds a 66% approval rating within his own party, and a 34% approval among both independent and Republican voters,” Kimball said...

While Cameron (R) is behind in this poll, a majority of Kentuckians continue to show support for Trump. The poll asked who people would vote for in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election between Trump and Biden. Trump held a 29-point lead over Biden, 55% to 26%.

That’s what a lot of these 100% MAGA supporters think, if they aren’t 100% pro-Trump the are a POS who they would never vote for and anyone endorsed by Trump is automatically a great candidate

For thinking that way we get the Rafael Warlock’s of the world

If the candidate is really good a Trump endorsement is good but if the candidate is terrible they get destroyed especially in statewide elections

Does the RNC fund the Governors races? That is if we had an RNC.

Ask yourself would Roe vs Wade still be the law of the land and 2nd amendment be obliterated if Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett were replaced with Merrick Garland, Katangi Brown-Jackson and Ruth Bader Ginsburg

One of the negative things that Trump has convinced his supporters to believe is that any MAGA candidate endorsed by him is cheated if they lose, despite a mountain of evidence otherwise.

Georgia is a perfect example, Kemp and Raffensberger both defeated Trump endorsed opponents in the primary and both easily won reelection, the Trump endorsed candidates all lost.

Yet, all the Trump supporters believe that’s proof that Kemp has rigged the system getting himself reelected along with Kemp’s supporters

They totally support Kari Lake telling McCain Supporters to “get the hell out” of her rallies, Lake lost by 16,000 votes, how many of those 16,000 votes were a result of her actions to turn off a significant number of former McCain supporters, you don’t have to support or like McCain, but you can’t alienate his supporters in a state that is evenly divided.

It does allow exceptions for the life of the mother.

Thanks for the correction. That is accurate. But, it also means... Beshear's ads ARE also accurate. He's claiming no exceptions for rape or incest.

Cameron has publicly stated... timidly... that he would sign a bill that included exceptions for rape and incest. But, he's not pushing for it.

While that is a factor, I’m of the opinion that it’s the ownership of the teacher’s unions and the government employees’ votes that will do the most damage. They firmly believe that a Republican governor would “steal” their pensions, while Baby Doc Beshear lies, claiming he can kick the can down the road indefinitely - which they also believe.

It's a one-two punch, for sure. That was certainly the issue they used to crush Bevin.... the ONLY person who actually was trying to SAVE their pensions. They're still trying to use links to Bevin against Cameron.

But honestly, this time around.. I've heard ZERO talk about Teacher pensions. They are beating on Cameron's support for allowing vouchers to be used for private schools. Cameron hasn't even tried to explain the concept of have money follow the children, and CHOICE in education.

The teacher's unions here a extremely crazy, and active.

I don't see Cameron being able to turn those issues around. Better to hit back at Beshear for the draconian lock-downs during Covid here, and lying about being supportive of the income tax cuts.

I would note that even in this poll...Beshear has himself gained zero support. He is right where he was when this all started - in the upper 40s. Cameron was in the lower to mid 40s. This larger gap is due solely to the barrage of ads destroying Cameron’s image.

Bottom line: money matters. Ads and marketing matter. You can’t have months of ads running setting a narrative that you can’t counter or respond to.

This is what caused candidates to lose in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and now again in 2023. Our candidates are left twisting in the wind.

The base cannot continue to sit on their behinds and keep their wallets closed, or this kind of result is inevitable. Just 1 million people chipping in a mere $20 to Cameron would have erased this problem. There are far more conservatives out there who could more than afford to do that for each candidate. The Democrat base does this every election, every candidate - even in races that are sure losers.

100% agree... The Dems have been MUCH better at using low-level, grass-roots organizing to raise money. The days of sending $500 - $5000 to a candidate are over. I wouldn't send $100 to anyone... but, I might well send $20, or $50.... several times.

We've GOT to find a way to develop this outreach, if we hope to win in the long run.

Cameron seems reluctant to step outside Marquis of Queensbury dueling rules and is getting crushed by an opponent who has no such restraints.

If you find yourself fighting a fair fight, your tactics suck.

All I can say is I am so very disappointed. I really like Cameron and believe he did an outstanding job as AG and would be a great governor. Beshear is a slimy little turd with a baby face that has served him well along with his family name.

I can only hope the Republicans maintain a supra majority in the legislature. That is all that has saved us from his far left, despotic policies during the ScamDemic. The guy makes me want to toss my cookies when I see him speak.

It's been even worse when seeing the ads he is running from self-proclaimed "Republicans" and "conservatives" gushing over him - someone as far-left as Beshear. Might as well appear in an ad gushing over AOC or Gavin Newsome and claiming you are a conservative "voting for the person."
