Poll: Gov. Beshear leads in governor’s race against Cameron

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A new poll shows Gov. Andy Beshear leading in the race for governor against Attorney General Daniel Cameron, a little more than a month before election day.

A new Emerson College Polling/FOX 56 News poll asked 450 registered voters questions between Oct. 1 and 3 about the upcoming election. Emerson College found Beshear leading with 49% support in the upcoming November gubernatorial election, while a third of voters (33%) plan to support Republican Cameron.

“Governor Beshear not only holds the majority of Democratic voters’ support at 85%, but also 44% of independent voters’ support and 28% of Republican voters’ support,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. “Cameron has a weaker base of support within his own party with 53%, and trails Beshear among independent voters with 25%.”

According to the poll, 5% of people plan to vote for someone else, while 13% are undecided.

Beshear has previously held high approval ratings. In August, Morning Consult Pro found him to be the fifth most-liked governor in the U.S. with an approval rating of 64%, with him having a higher approval rating among Republicans than any other Democrat governor...

“While Biden is an unpopular figure among Kentucky voters, Beshear has been able to separate himself from the president: he holds a 66% approval rating within his own party, and a 34% approval among both independent and Republican voters,” Kimball said...

While Cameron (R) is behind in this poll, a majority of Kentuckians continue to show support for Trump. The poll asked who people would vote for in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election between Trump and Biden. Trump held a 29-point lead over Biden, 55% to 26%.

Who were these 450 registered voters?

A rather select and important group that live in dilapidated single-wides and exist entirely on EBT deposits.

Actually, Walker did win, Mr. Florida. His election was stopped by Kemp’s corrupt political machine in GA, who orchestrated the false win for wife-beating, White-hating, Stalinazi Warlock (in exchange for his Demonrat allies not contesting Scaty Abrams loss). You can’t have the entire Republican ticket for statewide office miraculously “win”, while the key Senate seat, backed by Conservatives (Trump) and more popular than the Governor “loses” against a Black Communist. That was an audacious theft.

Neil Gorsuch or Merrick Garland ....that’s a no-brainer

Cavanaugh or Garland...I’m not so sure...At least with Garland you know where you stand right off the bat.

I would take any of those Republicans you listed as a POS over the Rafael Warnocks and Jon Ossoffs of the world....not me.

If the voters of Georgia want Warnock and Ossoff, let them have them. And whatever happens, happens. Right now, because of them and the fact that Kemp has a hardon for illegals and refugees, the state continues to be flooded with them.

No way I’m voting for a sorry, UNIPARTY, Establishment POS Republican ever again. Gonna be real interesting when Kemp jumps into the next Senate race here in Georgia. He is not well liked but they’ll make sure he’s the candidate. He ain’t getting my vote.

When Pres Trump was making the right decisions and doing great things for the people, every one of them stabbed him and us in the back. No different than what is happening in the House right now.

McCarthy and crew had 9 months to come up with something to show America that they were legit. What did they do? Gave Biden no cap on the debt limit, another CR to keep things the status quo and tried to slam the Congressional wish-list down our throats, again.

I can’t speak for you, but my days of voting for the Republican just so “the Democrat won’t win” are completely over.

Probably because so many of them rely on the government for their survival. Food, shelter, spending cash etc.

16% undecided means they are not interested and won’t tell.

Sinator Schmuck Choomer explicitly announced they would be “getting” that additional PA seat and there would be “no losses” ahead of the ‘22 election. He wasn’t even trying to hide the fact that they’d be stealing every single Dem-held Senate race that the GOP would likely win and gaining an open GOP seat, all despite a massively unpopular installed regime in DC. That simply doesn’t happen in a fair election at all.

BTW, McConnell was in on the theft by his Demonrat buddies. He doesn’t want any additional Senators on the GOP side unless they 100% back him. It’s why he’s stood back while at least FOURTEEN Senate races have been stolen since 2018. That means the GOP should have 62-63 seats to the Demonrats 37-38. This ain’t just a one sided theft, they had help from fake Republicans to pull this off.

Trump held a 29-point lead over Biden, 55% to 26%.

It's hard for me to understand how someone would vote for Trump and then turn around and vote for Beshear.

Partly, at least, it's tradition. When I was young there was no such thing as a Republican in Kentucky politics (for all practical purposes), and Kentucky has had only 2-3 Republican governors in the last 100+ years.

I will go to the polls and vote Cameron if I am the only one.

My bro and I will join you. But I fear we may be the only 3.

Went driving thru south central KY a couple weeks ago. This is an area which is consistently 90% R in Presidential races. I saw NOT ONE Cameron sign anywhere. But plenty of those huge ANDY signs.

I have to wonder if there’s not a segment of R voters who are willing to vote for a Conservative black for lower office; but when it comes to the top executive offices (ie. Gov and Pres), maybe they still can’t bring themselves to vote for a black???

Dunno… just throwing it out there…

Senor Manny is a McQueeg RINO. He’s also an election fraud denier. You can see why he’s quite happy with ANY RINO elected official and HATES people like Gov-elect Kari Lake and other MAGA candidates with a burning passion.

Really now. I was unaware. Thanks for the G2.

So Senor Manny is like many, many other ‘Republicans’ here on Free Republic.

No worries. The site has no place being an echo chamber and I rather enjoy reading comments from those like him/her.

It is so outrageous. McConnell and The Schmucky-Schmuck are enemies of the state as far as I am concerned. Unfortunately, Kentucky will reelect a Dem Gov should McConnell keel over.

The GOP was weak in KY at the statewide level (6 times since 1919 they’ve won the Governorship, just 3 in the past 56 years), but they did respectably at the federal level. They held both Senate seats in the modern era from 1957-1973 and again since 1999.

And...after everything Beshear did to us during the Scam-demic it is befuddling.

And heartbreaking. I believe that Cameron would be an excellent governor. I’m flabbergasted by his weak campaign.

His main positive traits were, he was well known in Georgia and was endorsed by Trump, other than that, getting Trump’s endorsement is not enough in many cases in statewide general elections, he was a terrible candidate.
********************************************************
When will everyone start to realize that Trump’s endorsement is good for a primary win only. As much as he energizes the Trump Tribe to vote for his preferred candidate in the primary, in the general he energizes to the max the Dimocrat horde and independents turned off by his name calling BS. Just look at 2018, 2020, 2022 for evidence.

Yeah, there’s cheating too. I get it. But Trump makes it easy by bringing out the leftards in such numbers that they have to cheat less, if at all.

And BTW when listing bad Republican candidates endorsed by Trump add Dan Cox for Governor of MD. Trump endorsed Cox to spite Hogan. Cox was a pathetic candidate for MD. Hogan wasn’t a conservative’s dream, but he was far better than what Martoon O’Malley was and what the current Dim Governor is.

I don’t live in Kentucky or have family there-but I don’t understand a state that has a senator who does his job-Rand Paul-but people atill vote for a corrupt Rino all in for himself-McConnell to be their other senator-there is a weird disconnect there...

Oh, we can all have different opinions on things, sure. It just becomes something else entirely when others think they’re entitled to their own set of facts, divorced from reality. At that point, they just become trolls trying to disinform and brainwash others. I figure if someone is an establishment RINO hack and McQueeg fan, this ain’t really the website for them.
