Movement of Rank and File Educators will join the Democratic Socialists of America for a 'Ceasefire Now Rally for Gaza'
A subsidiary of the nation’s second-largest teachers' union will join the Democratic Socialists of America to protest Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Hamas terrorists.
The Movement of Rank and File Educators, which describes itself as a "caucus of the United Federation of Teachers," will cosponsor Friday’s "Ceasefire Now Rally for Gaza" in New York City. The presence of the group, which claims it "fights for social justice" and "empowers workers in schools," could cause problems for its parent organization. The Democratic Socialists of America’s last rally drew bipartisan denouncements after participants celebrated the terrorist attacks that killed over a thousand Israelis and at least 30 Americans.
In a statement to the Washington Free Beacon, the Democratic Socialists of America said they had no regrets about the protest, during which one participant was photographed waving a picture of a Nazi flag.
The United Federation of Teachers did not respond to a request for comment and has only offered a tepid response to the worst domestic attacks on the Jewish state since its founding. An October 11 resolution from the union condemned Hamas but encouraged "open dialogue and respect for differing perspectives while emphasizing the importance of peaceful negotiations."
The Movement of Rank and File Educators encouraged teachers in a statement to "educate themselves and their communities about the history of the conflict" and linked to the far-left Teach Palestine Project’s website. Resources for educators on the group’s website include lesson plans on "comparing Palestine to the Americas" that state both Israel and the United States’ territories are illegitimate.

I have family members in public education. They’ve been desperately trying to find decent employment outside of education. Can’t get an offer anywhere.
I’m convinced that many if not most employers think that they are associated with lunatics like these freaks.

AFT represents teachers; paraprofessionals and school-related personnel; higher education faculty and staff; nurses and other healthcare professionals; local, state and federal government employees; and early childhood educators.
These people have no business “educating ” our children!!!! I will never ever vote funds for public schools until they’re removed from our payroll and from having any contact with our children. Not one cent.

I was an involuntary member of the AFT for decades. And I was never once allowed to vote for the president or any national officers. Those folks are hand-picked at conventions where the rank-and-file have no hope of attending.
The AFT preaches democracy. But they are very undemocratic - Stalinist actually - in practice. The system is rigged to give the leftist incumbents a HUGE advantage.
And so a union that is made up of average folks (yes, there are many conservatives in the AFT) ends up with nothing but liberal leaders. It is very frustrating.
Years ago, a group of us went to see a lawyer about this. He was sympathetic, but said it would be a waste of money to challenge the leadership. From what he could see, they were staying just inside the boundaries of the union charter.
If they want a fight then give it to them.
I recently came very close to being arrested and losing my job because I got into an argument in the middle of the emergency room I work in because I was dumb enough to jump all over a co worker who was blaming every thing happening in our country and the world on Trump.
“It's all Trump's fault'' this moron said and I almost really tore into him to the point that people were starting s notice and a small crowd was forming.
This guy happens to be a Navy vet and he's a Biden bot.
I had to walk away and thank God my boss didn't hear about it.

We conservatives have to stand up to this.

Tell them to focus on what worth they bring to the new organization.
