This is more of a perception than a gov’t admitted news item. Some Russians have commented that you just don’t see that many police around on the streets (presently)...compared to a year or two ago.
Back in late 2022, Putin signed some order that police numbers were to upsize by 2025 to 938,000. Considering that the total population of Russia is quoted at 143-million...it’d mean that nearly one cop will exist for each 143 people.
The Interior Ministry said back in July that a 5,000 man ‘exit’ occurred, with guys just plain quitting the police across the nation. Wasn’t a lot of details to that, and it wouldn’t shock me if half of these were regular yearly retirement situations.
Conscripted into the “war” effort, killed, and cremated by Russia’s mobile cremation units.
With the massive call-ups of young men in Russia for the meat grinder, that’s my guess, too.
