House Republicans voted down Jim Jordan, a member from Ohio, as a candidate for the House Speaker position. The secret ballot concluded with 112 votes against Jordan and 86 in his favor.
This ballot was cast after the House of Representatives lacked a Speaker for over two weeks, following a motion by Matt Gaetz to vacate the chair. Kevin McCarthy had also been removed from the position earlier in the month by a 216-210 vote.
The eight Republicans that voted against McCarthy included Biggs, Buck, Burchett, Crane, Gaetz, Good, Mace, and Rosendale.
After the recent ballot, Kevin McCarthy voiced his support for Tom Emmer (MN) for the position of House Speaker. Emmer subsequently announced to the House Republican Conference his intention to seek nomination for the role.

Thatโs more like he worked against what would have been an organic red wave.
His son is still there to carry the torch.
I’ve thinking about this predictement for a few days
Art of the Deal
MAGA extracted a lot of leverage from the Cabal who wanted McCarthy
MAGA got the power to fire the Speaker
MAGA retains some power to elect the new speaker.
Does not matter (??) you have an infinite debt ceiling
Does not matter (??) if you have continuing resolutions and omnibus bills.
When you do not have a Speaker, you cannot appropriate funding nor pass legislation.
When the Speaker allows tomfollery, one congressman can fire his a$$ and freeze the process
Panic in DC
Pray youโre right. Promoting the popular vote for presidential elections by cancelling the Electoral College is death to the U.S. Constitution. No Constitution, No USA
For the life of me I cannot understand why so many on team R are opposed to Jordan. Is he too squeeky clean for them? Is it because he is a Christian? Hell, except for the rag-heads all politicians go to church on Sunday. They have to because it is part of the ‘pillar of the community’ persona that they must project.
I really don’t get it ...
“The sooner Gyorgy boy passes away the better.”
His son has already taken over and he’s an even worse human.
Dang, you beat me.
“The secret ballot concluded with 112 votes against Jordan and 86 in his favor.”
I’m going to order a flower arrangement for the Republican Party’s funeral.
How about: One County, One Electoral Vote. Mrs rktman approved. ๐ณ๐ค๐๐

The bs just gets worse. There was no good reason to not elect Jim Jordan. It’s ok to have a different opinion in the GOP, but not to the point where you side with democrats on things that are not good for the party or the country.
“The sooner Gyorgy boy passes away the better.”
Probably won’t make much difference since Dr Evil has “retired” and one of his sons is now running things.
“... crooked politicians always wrap themselves in the Flag, Religion, ...”
That seems contradictory to me. If Jordan was unacceptable to team R because he wrapped himself in the flag/religion (the projected persona), then your comment implies that Jordan was a crook and therefore acceptable as Speaker.
“The sooner Gyorgy boy passes away the better.”
It won’t matter. His demon spawn will carry on... and he is just ‘one’ demon bent on destroying us. There are many (legion).
I don’t get it either. Marjorie Taylor Greene (our Rep) is for Jordan and she’s as conservative as any. The Rs look like impulsive fools imo. “It’s better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth (or in this case act impulsively) and remove all doubt.”
If Emmer is a blue RINO and a Trump hater, enough “moderate” Dems will vote for him.
โ..No politician from Minnesota should be allowed within 1000 miles of DC....โ
Jesse Ventura, Al Franken, and the rest of their statewide pols. Need one say more?
bttt
Good point.
I don’t think the conservative caucus will let Emmer have it. Kevin Hern might be able to get 217. He’d be OK.
