Republicans dropped Rep. Jim Jordan on Friday as their nominee for House speaker, making the decision during a closed-door session after the hard-edged ally of Donald Trump failed badly on a third ballot for the gavel.
The blocked-House impasse deepening, Republicans have no realistic or workable plan to unite the fractured GOP majority, elect a new speaker and return to the work of Congress that has been languishing since hard-liners ousted Kevin McCarthy at the start of the month.
Majority Leader Steve Scalise said they’re going “come back and start over” on Monday.
In all, Jordan lost 25 Republican colleagues in Friday’s vote, leaving him far from the majority needed, with next steps uncertain.

Once again the GOP will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The RATs are extremely vulnerable next year but the Stupid Party with muck it up as always.
I THINK that MAYBE some of these 25 “Republicans” MIGHT have in the back of their “minds” that if they just hold out long enough they might be able to backdoor Trump into the speakership on a temporary (6 months to 1 year?) basis.
They don’t want to talk about it and stir up the marxist/socialist Press but maybe, just maybe is on their minds.
Secret ballot:
122-86 in favor of dumping his candidacy.
Public support was pretty squishy.
That’s fine.
McCarthy was ousted.
Scalise was blocked.
McHenry was blocked.
Pick somebody between the 50th conservative percentile (the above three) and the 90th conservative percentile (Jordan) like Kevin Hern (82%).
In the end, Trump’s support meant nothing
No, they’re all corrupt and compromised Derp State RINOs. They like their Speakers to be puppets of the Demonrats.

Nice thought, but these 25 (or at least most of them) support the bloodbath in Ukraine, so NO WAY will they let Trump get anywhere near their ‘pet project’.
they all have a duty to elect a speaker in an orderly fashion. whatever are they thinking. do we look stupid or what.
This whole thing was for show more than half of Republican conference are RINO’s by design on who leadership select to run...the base outrage is what caused Scalise to drop out and for them to pick Jordan, who they knew they where never going to confirm and expected him to drop his bid once the votes weren’t there.
He did not so they showed their true colors in secret ballot...it is going to take a long time for these RINO’s in GOP to be voted out if at all possible...TRUMP broke this GAME that is why they are breaking so many unwritten precedents to go after him...SAD.
trump is not eligible....period.

Not in a MILLION years would the republican’ts elect Trump as Speaker. They don’t have the backbone, not by a long shot.
