Gaetz says those voting against Jordan are trying to punish 8 conservatives who voted to remove McCarthy
lorida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz told reporters on Friday that he and other conservatives who voted to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have offered to face removal from the House Republican conference.
"If what people need is to see the 8 of us wrapped on the knuckles in order to get on to the business of governing" than we are open to consequences, Gaetz said, which includes removal from the conference.
Gaetz said he and the other conservatives would stay Republicans.
Gaetz and Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., argued that the Republican holdouts voting against Jordan are doing so to punish the group of conservatives that voted to ouster McCarthy.

GaeTz is listed as Safe by them. If he were “at 42%” as you claim, he would be listed by them as “likely Democrat pick up”

And the reason McCarthy was removed was for cutting secret deals with democrats. One of the agreements with Gaetz, that got McCarthy elected in January, was no secret deals with democrats.
The defense of uniparty becomes more hysterical by the day.
Gaetz 42% despite Jordan’s one way support rivaling any other GOP topic in modern times.
This is like a choreographed circus with ever escalating brain cell defying acts daily.
I keep saying that Gaetz shot off his mouth without having looked for or gotten any pledges of support from anybody.
I like Jordan, btw, and I think he’d be fine. But I doubt that he’d make much of a difference, and I think this was more about Gaetz than about Jordan.
So Gaetz has taken a less than perfect situation and made it something that could be a disaster for all of us: Hakeem Jeffries, 3rd in line to the Presidency.
We’ve got to stop eating our own, folks.

Did you know it took 15 rounds to get McCarthy elected as Speaker? And then the dummy gave away the House (literally) after meeting with Biden by increasing the Debt Ceiling through January 2025. That means 2 budget cycles.
It will work. There will be a speaker, Hakeem Jeffries.
All’s good but I would take that 42% with a grain of salt. ; )
My cunning plan is for the lot of them to vote in Scalise and under cover of all the feelgood stuff to give Matt Gaetz a job that will get him to piss out of the tent instead of in.

Neat move by Gaetz and his crew. Apparently, they are the only GOP House Members who have read “THE ART OF THE DEAL”.

Ken Buck’s office says it was a “mistake” that he was listed on the letter from other McCarthy rebels saying they’d be willing to accept consequences if holdouts back Jordan for speaker.
"Congressman Buck had not agreed to sign this letter and his name has since been removed."
