During an interview with NewsNation aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Hill,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis argued that if his rival Republican candidate former President Donald Trump had followed his promise to build a wall on the border, “it would have been much more difficult for Biden to get away with” the damage he’s done on the border.
DeSantis said, “I do think, when he’s saying things, like, in Iowa, the other day, that, well, he couldn’t follow his campaign promise to have Mexico build the border — pay for the border wall, because there was, no legal mechanism he could have used to have Mexico pay, so he’s rationalizing that failure. The problem is, that was his main campaign promise. I was at the rallies. It was fun. Everyone was cheering that. And the second thing is there actually was a way he could have done that. He could have imposed fees — and I will do this as president — you could have imposed fees on the remittances that people send to foreign countries, Mexico included. That would have raised billions of dollars.”
He added, “I think it’s important, because that was his core campaign promise. You look at what Biden’s done with that border. If he had followed through and built the wall, it would have been much more difficult for Biden to get away with what’s happened.”

Guess the campaign team didn’t see the pics of the holes Biden cut in the fence to let people in?
DeSantis *was* a very good, upcoming Republican with great potential. Unfortunately, a guy like DeSantis needs funding and he sold his soul for that funding. The Republican donor class needs another GWB to start a forever war.
How foolish. Do you think that posting something makes it true? Do you have a similar attitude towards what DeSantis says? The man is a consummate posturer. He has snowed some people and they seem to want to stay snowed. I hope the red pill for those supporters is not too painful.
Congress, under Ryan, did everything it could to NOT build a wall. The enemy within was the RINOs and democRATS in the house that wouldn’t budget for the wall.
They have no problem defending Ukraine’s borders, however, and they’re also great at helping defend Israel against the enemy that they also funded.
It’s a fence, not a wall. If Trump hadn’t sold it as a wall, you would acknowledge the obvious.
wall : a structure (as of brick or stone) meant to enclose or shut off a space. especially : a side of a room or building. 2. : something resembling a wall. especially : something that acts as a barrier or defense
fence: a barrier, railing, or other upright structure, typically of wood or wire, enclosing an area of ground to mark a boundary, control access, or prevent escape.
He’s completely disregarding Congress’ role in that. Paul Ryan et al did whatever they could to stop the wall because Big Business wanted cheap labor.
Maybe after checking the actual definitions you can stop making up a difference and distinction that does not exist except in your mind.

One thing for sure; that the truth has come out, what a POS DeSantis is.
Big business also includes the Catholic church ... pappy Francis/Rome has demanded the US allow their members to invade US... We the People have funded billions to Catholic Charities in the name of their religious invasion..
Unfortunately, it is true. Trump has attacked DeSantis for the six-week abortion ban, calling it “terrible.” He attacked DeSantis over Disney. He has run to DeSantis’s left on other issues, as well.
Furthermore, he has a LONG history of endorsing RINOs and giving money to Democrats.
Don’t waste your disingenuity on me. I have been around the horn with your gaslighting before.
Just facts. Sorry.
We all know it doesn’t matter anymore. Trump could go on TV and kill a live baby and his cult of personality on the right will hand wave it. Bidden or whatever Democrat gets the nomination and, does same, and will be supported by his base.
There are no ‘issues’ anymore between the parties except mild social differences.
It’s just my side, your side, be a team player, home team vs away. And it’s been that way for decades now.
Remember how he attacked DeSantis for opening up too early?
DeSantis was planning his campaign while he was running for Gov., telegraphing his moves. He showed he was putting his ambition above Florida and he punked those who believed his words.
That’s what I remember, naked political ambition, the lack of moral fiber and the calculated marketing in his studied & nuanced reactions rather than authenticity.
The GOP refused to lift a finger to do what they and PDJT were given a mandate to do. Instead they feather their own nest, kids nest, have deviant sex, booze, drugs, then just plain do unhelpful and counterproductive things. GOP needs to die.
Your remark misses the point entirely. Trump is popular not because of cult of personality. He is popular because his is not bought & sold, because he has a track record of results & of putting America first. I understand it’s hard to find a good way to attack his results and his platform so you need to gaslight but don’t be fooled because those who care enough to keep track are not taken in by the “cult” BS
I fear, based on our history, you wouldn’t know or respect a fact if it bit you. I have debunked those same lies of yours about Trump, time after time. You twist the words, twist the events so you can sing your song. Have a good evening.
If you think Trump’s going to make a dent in immigration or government spending, you’re dreaming. Neither party has any interest in that. And if he doesn’t do it, you’ll just say he was sabotaged by his own side like all the rest of this.
I mean I guess it’s good to remain optimistic still, but I’m getting to the general malaise of let it burn faster than 2% slower. It does not matter.
