Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) on electing a Speaker Pro Tempore: "I don't want this job, I don't aspire to be in this job... but I will volunteer to step up until properly relieved until we get 217 votes out of this room to elect a Speaker."
Start with the 20 who didn’t back Jordon.
I am told that the idea that an outsider can be speaker is not correct, but then again those sources could be wrong.
Yet, if voting for Trump is Constitutionally allowed, can he get a majority of the fractured GOP in the House to go along with the idea.
I have thought Trump as Speaker would make great political theater, as he would use simultaneously use it as his 2024 campaign vehicle.
“Start with the 20 who didn’t back Jordon.”
And replace them with who, and don’t say it does not matter.
How are those 20 any different than the original eight who sided with the Dims to oust McCatrthy. Neither group seems to care about their party, and what it means to have any power at all as a party, and just put something they might want to call their “principles” first.
James is getting beaten up on Twitter.
Yeah l called James today. You won’t get to talk to anyone just voice mail. Call anyway (202) 225-4961 leave a message. These traitors think we will forget by primary day. Let them know we won’t.
BS. Kevin was a cuck. The more we learned the worse it was. He cut a deal with the rats. He gave them what they wanted and he thought they would sheiks him.
F Kevin
Oh it matters. Most of the traitors who voted to impeach Trump are gone and we must do the same to these 20 rat collaborators.
Such a view may have been appropriate when both chambers of Congress were acting to achieve what was best for America's future, its people, its institutions, principles and culture.
It should be obvious to everyone who looks at America's current condition that both chambers are no longer doing just that, and that the future is at serious risk.
One way or the other the R's better bring their A game and not miss a step, the times call for no less.
WHO?.jerk.
Stiffing the R's on his promises/oral contracts of the various things he would do if allowed to continue in the Speaker's chair, would certainly have been enough for me.
The challenge would have been to accurately calculate the dedication of the Rino's and weigh that against the damage to be realized by a Dem Speaker. Not a good spot to be in.
The rats could and did put up the most radical leftist without any worries about any D voting against the majority. The GOP always has a group of traitors ready to go. The party has nothing but contempt for the base.
Liberty score 57%
Above McCarthy, below Scalise.
I’m not so sure about the second part of your statement.
You are absolutely correct the RINO moderates loathe the Conservative core of the party.
However, I think Jordan sees that making the compromises necessary to win 217 votes is what killed McCarthy. McCarthy owed way too many concessions to the likes of Matt Gaetz including single-issue voting, an orderly appropriations process, etc. Jordan didn’t want to go down that road. He is already Chair of the Judiciary Committee. That gives him lots of power. He doesn’t need to sell his soul for a bigger office.
Good points!
Yes James disappointment. I voted for him in every election he ran in.
I like James Craig former Detroit Sheriff. What are his chances at the Stabenow open seat?
